Description for MG MGA 1960
1960 MGA Roadster 1600Excellent Driver Quality Condition
This auction is for a beautiful 1960 MGA Roadster with the 1600 engine. This MGA is a great high level driver quality car. It has been extremely reliable for me by MG standards and has never let me down. I willattemptto go through all aspects of this car in detail. If you have any other questions, please e-mail me and I will answer promptly.
Mechanicals - The engine and transmission in this MGA are fantastic. The engine runs at 50 PSI oil pressure at idle and actually runs toward the cool side. Its a 1960 MGA and it does leak a tiny amount of oil which I consider to be far less than my other MGs did.The transmission shifts smoothly in all gears and does not grind or pop out of gear ever. Reverse gear is good as well. The braking system is very good for a 1960 MGA and it does have front disc brakes with good rotors and pads all around. The heater doesn't seem to work but I haven't put too much effort into it given I'm in Florida. The goofy turn signal switch on the dash works as designed. All of thelights are working as designed and the gauges are fully operational and the chrome surrounds gleam in the sun. There really isn't a whole lot that can break on this car. It is as simple as it gets.
Body - The body on this car was restored some time ago and I do not have any records of the restoration. The body is straight and there is NO RUST anywhere. The frame was painted black and all of the other items underneath are fresh and rust free. The doors on MGAs are hard to align and this one is no exception. The driver's door aligns and closes well but the passenger side latch needs some adjustments. The paint is better than average but not high end show quality. There are some minor nicks around the bonnet and a few small dents on both doors. The vinyl fender beading is NOT painted over and shows well in grey. The windscreen chrome and glass is near perfect. The floor wood is like new. (picture included)
Wheels/Tires - The wheels installed on the card are chrome and are almost new. The tires are older but are in good condition. There is not any dry rot or tears in the tires and the tread is good. The car comes with a set of unmounted silver wire wheels in good condition although they are weathered.
Interior - The interior on this MGA is super nice. The dashboard is near perfect and shows like new. The steering wheel is near perfect as well. The carpets are newer and interior surround trim is in great condition as well. The seats are in very good condition but the drivers side seat has a small tear on the rear left side seam. The door panels are in good condition. There is not a panel behind the seats over the spare tire and I am not sure if there is supposed to be one.
Weather Gear - This MGA includes full weather gear. There are left and right side windows in excellent condition and plexiglass side screens. The convertible top is like new and the clear plastic windows are clear in all areas. There is a convertible top boot and a car cover in the boot. The convertible top frame look like new as well and is finished in the correct color.
I am selling the care to make room for some other classics that I recently purchased. The reserve is set very low for what you will be getting and if it does not meet reserve, I'll just keep it.
