Description for MG T-Series 1953
1953 MG T-Series Clear Title Vin# TD-220754 Engine# XAP TD-220754Need to sell our inherited 1953 MG-TD due to lack of time and funds to get it road ready. the car is complete but needs some work to repair problems manifested mostly due to setting and not being driven for about 20 years. the car would also be a good one for someone looking to go through and do a complete restoration. Here is a list of what we know about the car at this time.
Brakes- Drums, shoes and hardware are new but the hydraulic system will need to be flushed and the wheel cylinders and Master cylinder will need to be rebuilt.
Fuel system- Fuel lines and carbs will need to be cleaned.
Electrical System- The wiper motor will have to be replaced or rebuilt. Lights, starter and all the rest of the electrical system are in working order.
Ignition System- Distributor, points, cap and rotor are new but the coil has failed and will need to be replaced.
Tires- They are radials and have literally no wear at all but they are at least 15-20 years old and there is a little bit of age cracking in some areas.
Engine- compression is even at just over 100 lbs. dry in all 4 cylinders and the cylinder leakdown test is less than 10% in all 4 cylinders. the engine has barely been run since it was overhauled and is probably not even 100% broken in.
Top side panels and Tonneau Cover - Replaced when the car was rebuilt. The top has minor staining but there are no rips on any of these parts.
Not really very many repairs needed to get it back on the road again. The car was completely rebuilt about 20-25 years ago but was only driven a few times and them put up and ignored until we inherited it a few years ago. When it was rebuilt the engine, transmission, clutch, steering and suspension systems were all rebuilt or replaced along with most of the wood components and interior pieces with original MG parts. The red seats and dash are replaced with red vinyl. Like I said, the car is pretty much 100% there and it just needs someone with more time and a little money to turn it back into a nice little roadster.
