Description for MG MGA 1957
This MGA embodies the designation “the most popular sports car of its time”. It starts well, runs great, and is a real joy to drive. It has been housed in a garage through restoration until now.
History of the 1957 MGA
The MGA was purchasedin 2000 from the second owner in New Mexico. Mileage was 5180 on the odometer. The New Mexico registration window sticker that was still on the car had expired in 1961, suggesting that it had been sitting unused since 1961.
The restoration process took until 2005 to complete (Full history of all replacement parts is available). In early 2005, my employment related travel requirements increased dramatically, which meant the car sat largely unused until I retired in 2015.
In mid 2015, a Sports Cars Dealership (owned and operated by a mechanic whose family had previously owned a MGA dealership) performed a very comprehensive inspection and repairs of all the mechanical systems and engine.
Here are some of the key points:
Restoration completed in 2005: All new: Electric wiring Harness, Hydraulic tubing, Brake Cylinders, Carburetors rebuild, Cooling system rebuild, replacement of most gaskets, Reupholster Seats, all new Carpeting, new Top, 2 new Tonneau covers, new Side curtains (need to be fitted), Classic AM Radio and many more replacement parts
There are 2 Tonneau covers, one of which can be used with the top up.
The car has been housed in a garage ever since the final painting (by a professional Body Shop) The paint used a PPG Delstar/Delthane Polyurethane Acrylic Enamel. Preparation included bare metal treatment, epoxy primers as required in DAR form P-137
There are some small stone chips, paint rubs minor paint bubbling.

Nov, 2015 All new tires and tubes including spare; Texas State Safety inspection
Texas Registration (Clear Title)
Actual Mileage 52,450
