Description for MG T-Series 1952
Restoration Info:The PO owned this car for 46 years. starting out in Houston and sold it to me in Spring of 2014. He has lived in Iowa for many years now. The ext and int colors are as delivered. The engine is not a numbers matching. It was born with XPAG / TD2 / 18479 and that engine blew shortly after he first owned it. The PO replaced it with 20362 which is a correct engine for that year. This is the same engine that was rebuilt only 5000 miles ago. The engine was rebuilt by Robert Sterling in Andover. IL. who was a well known TD engine guy. Complete receipts for everything and have lots of pictures of the restoration and - the PO spent three years and over $28k all things considered. The suspension was fully restored except the rear leaf springs - which I replaced this past summer. Shocks rebuilt. All gauges work. and were rebuilt. except the clocked stopped. New wiring harness. The only paint blemishes of note are paint cracks on the hood where it hinges at the radiator cowl and the back by the windshield cowl at the opposite end. I know those cracks to be quite common due to all of the stress on those hoods. I checked with a well known MG body man here - it would be less than $1k to fix that. The chrome is good to bit cloudy - this was the prime area where the PO tried to save as much of the original chrome as possible. I love the patina. The PO was the general contractor and he disassembled the car and put it all back together. except for engine/trans. brakes and things like that. The interior was done by: Rittmer Upholstery Shop - IowaThe exterior work was done by:Body: Precision Body & Metal Shapers - IowaPrime: Wes Jargen - IowaTop Coat: Gary Toney - IowaAll wood was replaced and reassembled. Top. full tonneau and side curtains are all new at restoration from Moss (canvas). I have two very nice books that I have organized that contain all of the restoration details/receipts. My contributions so far:A local well know MGTD mechanic here in Michigan went over this car. with me. on three different. lengthy working sessions this past summer. He would tell you that the car is very nice. We replaced ALL of the fluids . tuned it up . changed the upper rad hose. etc. etc. It has brand new Firestone 560s that I bought (5). New Optima BatteryNew 12 volt Petronix. I have attached some word documents that summarize the restoration. that may be helpful to you. The car is presently in a nice. warm storage area in my house all bundled up. but could easily be made available for viewing. Please do not hesitate to call me at (248) 652-8270 - I’d be happy to discuss this in more detail. Thanks again for your interest. No warranty is provided or implied. as this car is sold as is.
