Description for MG MGA 1957
There are 7 videos on YouTube showing the first restoration in the late 80's and my restoration from a few years ago. Please go to YouTube channel: bobeaseshop. The video's are: "MGA Part 1 of 4 V290" then V291 V292 V293 V294 V297 & V298. Most everything you need to know is on the videos but did forget to talk about the top and top frame. There is no soft top but I do have the frame. The frame was welded to the car and even though I think it can be saved I never drive cars like this in the cold nor in the rain. The tonneau does fine. When the head was rebuilt hardened seats were installed on the exhaust. There is no OE tach or speedo *so I do not know the milage" but the oil, coolant temp and fuel gauge work but remember the fuel gauge was not and is not fitted with a stabilizer. She does tend to run on from time to time when she's hot but I always just use 4th to stop it as I leave it in gear when parked anyway. There are systems to overcome that and even though I tried higher octane fuel it still did it from time to time. It could use new paint. The left rear hub has a click but no need to mess with that as the new owner can pick the wheels they want, or maybe just a new hub and wheel and let it be OE wires. It is wired for a third brake light but I never put one in. The battery is not old and in the trunk with a battery cut off. The seats are fine. External tach, the OE window has a stable crack in the lower right and some wiper scratches. It is not a trailer queen nor a fancy show car but everywhere I go people smile and love it. It is a fun good running and shifting car. The motor was gone over and the gearbox was rebuilt... all on the video's. I have a friend that can bring it to you but you can work that out with him if you like. If not far I'd just drive it home. The exhaust is solid and no reason to change it. The carbs were rebuilt by me and work great. The choke works great and I wish my other cars worked so well as these. It has an aftermarket electric fuel pump that is dependable. Brakes are almost new as well as the front end and steering rack. U-joints renewed. E brake is great. The gen is fine as well as the reg box. Electric fan fitted to cool the left side of the block and carbs. She is better than most but not perfect. I know some don't like my carpet idea but I can tell you that this carpet is many times better than most every kit out there. I have installed many a carpet kit and in just a few years they are thread bear. This is much better stuff and if you don't care for it then one can paint the gearbox tunnel carpet and get some rubber mats. This is far better carpet than even the $500 kits that are out there. I have fabric painted many things and it works fine. It can be bought by the quart and a HPLV gun could be used or just a few spray cans. It is a good driver and just fun. Thank You for reading, ask questions, and watch the videos. No paypal on this item.
