Description for MG MGB 1969
Here for sale is my Primrose Yellow 1969 MGB GT.For the past 20 years this survivor has been garage kept and rarely driven. Like a typical MG this car will require some attention to keep it running. One of the main reasons it's listed here today is i know i wont be able to give it the time and attention it deserves over the next few years.
Some parts are not original...
The car has been repainted at some point in the 90's. The paint is not a perfect match with the original color, but it's close.
The original fuel pump has been changed over to the ECCO plastic aftermarket pump for reliability. The original comes with the car, but after several fixes in the past decade i finally broke down and bought a replacement.
Some fuel lines between the fuel pump and the carburetors have been changed over to the newer ethanol safe hoses. I've also changed out the floats and needle valves to a nice aftermarket alternative.
All original parts have been kept. No exceptions.
Years of not being driven isn't good for a classic. That's mostly what i've been looking to solve in the past few weeks. I have a clutch hydraulic cylinder rebuild kit from Moss Motors ($90.00) that comes with the car. The leak is slow. It not necessary immediately. It should be done if your planning on a long trip soon.
The car is currently out of tune. This is noticeable at higher speeds. The SU carburetors seem to be running rich. I haven't gotten to tuning the car. With 77k original miles its my guess a good cleaning and possibly even a rebuilt kit is in order.
The car has been ran so little there is very little maintenance to report. Within the past 2 years ive changed the oil using Valvoline racing performance oil with zinc additive. I've changed the air filters. Spark plugs have been changed to the recommended champion brand and correctly gapped to .025. Spark plug wires are new. Condenser and Rotor are changed. Some Dot 3 fluid added to the clutch hydraulic system. Included SU dash pot oil has been needed in the past few weeks.
