Description for MG MGB 1970
Production of the MGB began in October 1962 just after the production of the MGA had ceased. Though often referred to as a roadster, the MGB had roll up windows, outside door handles and vent wings. A Mark II version was added in 1967, and the car stayed in production until 1980, becoming one of the most successful British sports cars of all time, with a total of over 300,000 cars being exported to the U.S. alone. The classic MGB's... continued the stronghold that MG had over the market of small roadsters than began post World War II. With great styling and handling (featuring a better suspension than MGA's) the MGB continued to gain popularity in the United States. GR Auto Gallery is pleased to over this most excellent MGB Roadster for your consideration. This B was recently acquired by us from a private collection on British cars. The car is a two owner car that was sold new by Gold Coast Sports Car Center of Pompano Beach Florida to a party in Lexington, KY. The date of this sale occurred on December 28, 1970. The car change hands for the first time in 2011 where it was treated to complete refurbishment and mechanical restoration. Services were performed under the care of MG Guru John Twist of University Motors located in Grand Rapids, MI. The car is finished in Blaze Red over black interior, black soft, and a rare hard top finished in Old English White. The exterior paint, although at least 15 years old, remains in excellent condition, the interior is very tidy and wonderful in all areas, the engine bay is detailed and the underside of this B remains original revealing an outstanding core structure. Mechanically, this 1970 MGB Roadster is spot on as it has been top to bottom mechanically restored. The engine runs like a sewing machine, the transmission shifts precisely, and the suspension and brakes work together to provide exceptional and confident handling and braking capabilities. Highlights include: Chrome wire wheels and chome wire spare, knock off tool and hammer, luggage rack, jack, tool roll, other accessories, Dual HU Carbs, original Smiths Gauges, signature chrome bumpers and grille, stainless steel exhaust, classic 3 spoke steering wheel, original passport to service book, all original tags, full tonneau, a large file of service / restoration history, vintage ad brochures etc. The MGB is a classic roadster that will always be popular. They are fun cars and easy to own. One that has received as much attention as this car has throughout its existence is rare. The car offered here is by far one of the best "B's" to grace the floor of the GR Auto Gallery. If you are looking to acquire a quality collectible at a entry level price, than look no further, than this MGB is a must consider.
