Description for MG MGB 1979

A professionally done V6 conversion using a rebuilt 2.8 liter Chevy V6 engine coupled to a close ratio T5 five speed transmission. Has covered 6,100 trouble free miles since conversion was done.
Excellent rust free Arizona car, no rust anywhere, very nice paint, all new interior including leather seats, wood dashboard, wood steering wheel, new stereo/CD. And a new tan convertible top with full tonneau cover.
NOT just a V6 conversion but also an elaborate chrome bumper conversion. With all new chrome, sheet metal, lights, brackets, hardware, now with the look of an earlier, far more attractive MGB.
Yet retaining all of the virtues of the later cars....front and rear sway bars, power assist disc brakes, better ride and handling, stronger components. While the later model MGBs were superior cars, they definitely lacked finesse with the ugly, heavy rubber bumpers and gutless 62.5hp engines.
All of the original Smiths gauges have been replaced with new VDO gauges, all work, and the conversion works perfectly.
Real center lock wire wheels, 185/70 radials, very clean engine bay, improved cooling system, better electrics, the reliable, modern gauges, all makes for a super MGB.
Curiously, the last owner fitted a small 32/36 DGV Weber carb, certainly has plenty of performance....while stock, these cars were rated at 62.5hp and this engine is probably closer to 150hp, WITH a bigger 390cfm Holley carb, one would get even more performance. But as it is, now, a quick, excellent driving MGB. With the compact V6 engine possibly being lighter than the original B engine and set back further in the chassis, no issue with being nose heavy or having heavier steering.
Was never a fan of the V8 conversion....okay, the aluminum Rover V8s are compact but still use up most of the engine bay while this compact V6 leaves plenty of room for easy servicing and even the installation of air conditioning. And how much power DOES an MGB really need? Truth is, the original factory MGBGT/V8s were only rated at 137hp and never had a 5 speed transmission.
And, of course, on top of all of this is the wonderful 5 speed transmission which makes driving this car on the highway a real pleasure. Low revs, tons of torque, and providing contemporary performance and use.
A rare chance to purchase a beautiful MGB with wire wheels, powerful V6 engine, 5 speed, leather seats, all in excellent condition. And with Spring only 3 months away, one can look forward to a fun season of classic sports car driving.
I can store this car until a buyer is ready for delivery, can add a powerful supplemental heater for cold weather use or a modern air conditioning set up for hot weather.
