Description for MG MGB 1965
1965 MGB Mk 1 Vintage Racecar for Sale1965 MGB Mk 1 Vintage Racecar Meets current HSR and VARA regulations ......please be patient while the many photos load.....
Thoughtfully built 1965 MGB Vintage Racecar for sale. I am representing this great little vintage racer for my brother who has owned the car since late 2005. He owns a successful engineering firm and as such took an already great car and made it even better!
This MGB began its racing career in 1983 when purchased by its second owner. He raced it for the next 10 years in various VARA, SCCA, and club sponsored events before returning it to occasional street use. My brother purchased the car in 2005 and restored and built it to meet current HSR and VARA regulations, where he raced it for two seasons.
The car starts runs and drives beautifully. The rebuilt 1798cc 4-cylinder engine has 9:1 compression, pushrod actuated valves with roller-rockers, wedged and balanced crank, and is currently rev limited at 7,000RPM. A cold air intake system feeds two SU type HS4 carburetors and two electronic fuel pumps drawing from a dual pick-up, 12 gallon ATL fuel cell. Cooling is via an alloy radiator and oil cooler.
Spark is provided by a Mallory Electronic High Energy, Centrifugal advance pointless distributor, with a rev limiter. Exhaust escapes through a Pecos free-flow header. Shifting is via a period correct 4-speed close-ratio gearbox from Huffaker Racing, heavy duty clutch and lightened flywheel. Steering is rack and pinion with front camber kit and heavy duty short springs.
Brakes utilize a dual master cylinder, front disk, standard calipers, hawk black pads, slotted, and drilled rotors and rear drums with high performance shoes. The car features a live rear axle with Panhard rod, lowering blocks, Ron Hopkinson sway bar kit and telescopic rear shocks, and a Quaife limited slip differential.
Includes a second set of Minilites, towbar, steering wheel, mirror and muffler, and miscellaneous parts. The original metal dash is available if its next owner would prefer. There is a good amount of documentation on the car as well and of course, I'm happy to put you in touch with my brother if you'd like to discuss more technical aspects of the car.
Be sure to see the video, there is actual racing footage from the driver's seat! Do note however that this racing footage was taken before the close ratio gearbox and new engine were installed which is much quicker!
