Description for MG MGB 1980

1980 MGB Limited Edition LE Convertible

This 1980 MGB LE with factory OD has only 46000+ actual miles on the odometer. With thousands of dollars worth of mechanical work done on this beauty, it is ready to drive anywhere. Featuring a rebuilt engine with a Weber carb and newly remanufactured overdrive transmission, new motor & transmission mounts, rebuilt front suspension, new brakes and hoses, and new radiator you'll be getting this car for pennies on the dollar compared to what has been invested in it.

a 1.8L inline-four paired with a 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive. I've put about 1,000 miles on this great running car that has an engine rebuilt by Abingdon Performance with a performance street cam, a John Esposito (Quantum Mechanics) remanufactured overdrive transmission anda Weber carb. Recent work also included a new clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, pilot bearing, clutch slave cylinder, hose and master cylinder, steel clutch line, turned and balanced flywheel, rebuilt front suspension and steering, new brakes and SS braided hoses, new radiator, new battery. A new exhaust was installed in 2011 and a catalytic converter installed in 2015 to meet Colorado's stringent emissions standards. Seats were rebuilt in 2010 with only 7,000 miles added since then. The previous owner had the body restored to rust free condition and professionally painted black as were all of the 6,668 Limited Edition (LE) MGB's that were only built in 1979 & 1980. The interior and top are also black. Because I liked the cleaner appearance of the car without the luggage rack and stripes that are standard on aLE they have not been installed but I do have those items to go with the car. Other accessories unique to the LE that are on the car are GKN alloy wheels, a front air dam with driving lights, leather-wrapped, 3-spoke steering wheel with special center hub and a LE dash plaque on the glove box door. The convertible top is serviceable but could use a new one (see photos). An Alpine stereo system has been installed and there are door and rear speakers.

Although the car is clean and solid it has picked up a few minor scratches and flaws in the course of driving which I have tried to show in the photos As can also be seen in the photos, it still looks great and has never had any significant damage or repair work that I am aware of. It is a well-maintained and great running car that will give you years of enjoyment. Of all the MG's the B is the most comfortable and reliable and of all the B's the LE's are the best.

I have service records for the past 10 years that I've owned the car and a few from the previous owner as well. Included with the car are a repair manual, extra tune-up parts, a spare fuel pump, radiator hoses, pulley belts, and various other miscellaneous parts. A tonneau cover, new and never installed (but with a small mouse hole in it).
