Description for MG Midget 1979
I am offering my 1979 MG Midget. I purchased it in 2018 from the estate of a gentleman who had owned it since 1983. He was the second owner. He literally stored it in his barn in Central Pennsylvania. I understand he maintained the vehicle along with his grandson.
It appears to me the most recent improvements include:
-A respray of the original color- Russet Brown
-Radiator replaced
-Most emissions equipment has been removed or bypassed
I have replaced the following:
-Solenoid
-Fan belt
As with most British cars, there are a few issues including:
-Slight oil leak
-Radio does not function
-Rust on the driver side floor (see picture). The floor is solid and appears to have had a panel welded some time ago
-Tear in the upper rear of driver's seat
-Some bubbling of rust on both lower rear quarter panels (see pictures).
In addition, when I purchased the car, the title came back from the State of Pennsylvania with a "r" code indicating salvage designation. I contacted the State of Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. They could not change the designation in any way and indicated that they do not have records available from 1983 when the car was first registered in Pennsylvania. The estate (wife and grandson) do not have any awareness of accident damage, flood damage, fire, etc that occurred in the vehicle. They also stated that the deceased gentleman would not have purchased this car with any type of issue. It is clear to me that he maintained the car fastidiously almost until his death. I have included several pictures of the vehicle to prove there has been no structural or other damage to the car. My theory is that when the gentleman titled the car in 1983 in Pennsylvania, an error occurred in the paperwork and the r code was added in error.
The vehicle is being offered in as is condition and I welcome local views to test drive the car.
