Description for MG MGB 1978
This 1978 red MG MGB is powered by a 1.8 Liter B-series inline 4 cylinder paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. Granny purchased the car in March of '03' with 83482 miles on it and has since added approximately 2,600 miles.
Serial # GHN5UJ458115 sat in a garage for 13 years before purchase. The car was then mechanically overhauled to be in tip top driving condition while it sat in Granny's garage for another 16 years. Mechanical work completed, including new wiring harness, fuel pump, washer pump, marker lights, fan switch, tie rod ends and boots, slave cylinder, master cylinder, hoses, clamps, starter, front brake shoes, calipers, pads and rotors, replaced both rear wheel cylinders, replaced kingpins and front shocks, coolant overflow tank, as well as various switches and bulbs. Oil changes have been done every six months regardless of miles.
The rubber bumpers have a modern look combined with the wire headlight protectors. It has a passenger side mirror, boot rack, 14" Rostyle wheels, and tires with less than 2,000 miles on them. The car was involved in a non-moving accident in '06' where a truck backed into the front end causing $2,600 in damage. Invoice is available. There is slight paint bubbling on both rocker panels and one small rust spot on the right side. There are also several dings in the passenger door molding. Car has always been garaged, never seen snow, and only driven on sunshine friendly days or moonlit nights.
The interior features a four spoke 14" wood steering wheel, black dashboard and console, tan leather padded doors and tan carpeting in the interior, trunk and boot. The black seats were reupholstered shortly after the car was purchased along with a new soft convertible top and boot cover. The windshield wipers operate properly and have 3 new blades.
Several dash switches were replaced not long after the vehicle was purchased. The six-gauge instrument cluster contains a 120 mph speedometer and odometer with 86123 miles. The original MG stick shift knob is included.
Not many better drives than cruising a country road ina iconic British sports car . This classic MGB is a wonderful foray into a time when cars were elemental and pure.
