Description for MG MGC 1968

You are bidding on a 1968 MGC Roadster in Mineral Blue over Black Leather Interior exactly matching the accompanying British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate showing exactly how it left the factory in 1968.

This particular MGC is extremely rare as it is a 1968 model and comes with an almost impossible to find automatic transmission. It has recently undergone both a partial mechanical and cosmetic restoration as can be seen in the photos. It had been restored many years ago and needed only freshening after having been stored as part of a private collection.

The exterior of the car (paint, chrome and glass) are all in nice condition. The car was painted many years previously and the Mineral Blue paint still looks recent with very few imperfections to be found. The chrome and glass are not new but still shiny and presentable.

The interior of the car (seats, cockpit, carpet, door panels and dash) are all in excellent condition and essentially new. The seats themselves are completely new bolt in Moss Motors leather seats to the tune of about $2,000. Additionally the carpet and all interior trim panels are also brand new. The dash is in great condition with none of the typical cracking as to be expected. Brand new carpeted MG logo mats are also included.

Mechanically the car is in good running condition and can certainly be used as is. The engine starts easily and runs well. Idling as expected without any strange noises. The automatic transmission has recently been completely rebuilt. The MGC for the North American market had a very unique 2 brake booster system which is usually missing or has been replaced with an aftermarket system. This car still has both original brake boosters and they have been professionally rebuilt. Brake master cylinder and all new brake lines plus calipers and wheel cylinders have also been rebuilt. So the braking system is brand new. Carburetors have also been rebuilt and a recent tune up have the MGC running well.

This MGC was delivered from the factory with the stow away top option. The top itself is brand new. It also includes a full tonneau cover as well as an original MGC Owners manual.
