Description for MG MGB 1976
1976 MGB
VIN: GHN5UH426987G
Remember how much you cared for your first real girlfriend back in junior high? When I was in the ninth grade, mine had the coolest Dad in the whole world! He worked as a regional British Leyland rep here in the Seattle area and they had an MGB much like this car. He even let me drive it around the block several times alone – something my father wouldn’t EVER let a 15 year-old get away with! Over the years I’ve owned many vintage British roadsters and this has been one of the most fun to come my way in a long, long time. In fact, with its Weber carburetor, short-tube header exhaust and electronic ignition upgrades, I’d qualify it as the best running mid-seventies “B†I’ve owned.
If you’re in the market for a great driving, well-kept, vintage daily driver please give this MG your kind attention. You’re also welcome to contact me with questions or to discuss a sale before the end of the Ebay listing. My name is Mark and I can be reached at 206/914-1173
CONDITION:
The photos really tell the car’s story. In the spring of 1976, it sold locally here in Seattle and has been in the snow and salt-free Puget Sound region ever since. I take pride in the Ebay vehicles we offer and feel that you should know as much about them as possible. Accordingly, here’s a list of the good and also small things possibly needing attention: Even when cold, with virtually one turn of the key, the peppy 1800cc four-cylinder fires right up with just a few pumps of the gas pedal. Of all the improvements one can do to an MGB of this vintage, changing–out the dangerous factory Stromberg carburetor for a modern Weber model is at the top of the list. Stromberg’s leaked fuel down onto the exhaust manifold and many post-1975 cars met a fiery death from them! A proper conversion was done several years ago and, in addition to the carb and intake manifold, a nice cast aluminum valve cover adds to the classic look. Top all that off with the ignition’s conversion to an electronic system and you now won’t face any of the pernicious worries most MG owners have from fuel and electric issues! The mandrel-bent exhaust header and a newer muffler system also add to the horsepower output and allow easy breathing of the engine. Of course, the four-speed manual transmission shifts smoothly, just like it should, with NO clutch slippage. The front disk and rear drum brakes feel great with no pulling to the left or right.
A good quality paint respray to the factory "Pageant Blue" color has been done and is in excellent condition. There are absolutely NO frontend rock chips, paint scratches or fading clearcoat. Rust? Well, this classic cruiser HATES rust and you’ll be very hard pressed to find anything here to worry about. Yes, the Puget Sound region gets its share of drizzle, but rarely any snow so our winter roads are not salted. One snowflake and everyone stays home. Climb over, under and throughout and I know you’ll come up smiling!
I really like the appearance the racing PVC front spoiler, mounted below the front bumper, gives. The factory glass is good. All the original exterior chrome and trim is decent. Each factory wheel is wrapped with a 185/70SR14 radial, all with at least 75% - 80% remaining tread.
I think you should get many more years use from the vinyl top. There don’t appear to be any rips or tears and all three window panels are clear. I’ll be sure to include the factory spare tucked away in the trunk along with the tonneau cover as shown. No jack came with the car.
Take another look at the interior pics. Both front buckets seats have been reupholstered and are in excellent shape (the original head restraints are included and could be added, though you’ve gotta admit, they detract from the classic appearance). The door panels are original and in decent, average shape. I’m sure you’ll appreciate the nice JVC AM/FM/CD player with a remote. All the gauges appear to function properly with the exception of the dash clock. The odometer reads only 9K miles, soI'm sure it's turned over at least once. Both the heater and heater fan are fine. The triple wipers, turn signals and headlights are all in working order.
BID WITH CONFIDENCE and know that you are purchasing a nice vehicle from a respected Ebay Seller. My main goal is be sure you’re happy with your purchase - and your dealings with me! Because of the amount of money involved in buying a vehicle, I require that Ebay members with a feedback history of five or fewer transactions call or email before placing a bid. If we don’t have this initial contact, your bid may be cancelled. The phone number to talk directly to me, as outlined above, is 206/914-1173. Please feel free to call any time during the auction. My name is MARK.
A Few Additional Terms and Conditions:
The entire purchase price is due by cash (in-person only), a wire transfer or other certified funds within seven days of the auction closing. I can accept credit/debit cards but will need to first send an invoice from our card processor and will include the 3.25% fee charged by them. Please remember you are bidding to buy, and I fully expect the winning bidder to fulfill their Ebay contract! You’re not bidding to hold or then come inspect and test-drive the vehicle later -- You’re more than welcome to do this before the auction ends.
If you decide to have the MG shipped home, there are numerous vehicle transportcompanies to choose from. While delivery and the company chosen are the responsibility of the BUYER, I ship vehicles regularly and have access to the nationwide Central Dispatch system. I can check to see what typical delivery costs have been to your area recently and we can then post a transport offer for the car at a fair price. Usually, a shipper is lined up within just a few days. You’ll pay the transporter COD when they arrive with the vehicle. No upfront deposit or other hassles.
Thecar can be stored free of charge at my location for up to fourteen days after the auction ends, assuming full payment has been received. After that period storage is $20 per day.
