Description for Mini Classic Mini 1973
This is NOT a project but a turn key car where the reliability issues have been addressed. It has been done to improve daily driverbility withoutcompromising the original feel of the car. With a stage one kit, extra enginesteady bars and freshsuspension components, this car feels almost stock and right. You can buy a cheaper car and spend money sorting it or get this one where you turn the key and drive.Owned this car since 2002. No expense spared rolling restoration and driven weekly. Most everything in the car is new or refurbished. The mileage is original and the car had less than 30,000 miles in 2002 when I bought it. Any rust issueswere dealtwith at Mont Carlo Mini in Shelby NC in 2004. All panels bought were from Minimania and 7ent and were either heritage or Hadrian panels. The front nose panel, part of the passenger floors and both sills were replaced. The sills were replaced not slapped with oversills. Everything is in this car has been done correctly.
Some of the enginetuning was done at Minispeed UK when I was stationed in Europe with a Stage 1 kit. It was dynoed and re-jettedto run perfect. All parts replaced are genuine NOS or from Minispares. It is still running its leaded head with new valve guides. I use lead additive every tank.
It has been set up to drive straightwith a 4 wheel alignment by Superfast Minis in Royston Georgia. The interior was completely redone by Ashley James Autotrim in Bolton United Kingdom.
It was completed at the Mini at 50 celebrations in 2009 when we went over to Longbridge UK for the festivities while stationedin Europe. It has not been overdone and looks like a late model stock Mini interior and has been tastefully redone. Looks like one seam on the driverside seat is coming undone. I was quoted $150 to repair this. Other than that the interior is perfect.
They only thing not replaced in the interior is the headliner which does not need replacement. (I have new rubber seals, headliner and bows which are included with the car if you want to do so)
It has been a fun reliable weekend driver and was my sporadic daily driver when I 1st bought it.
I have additional spares that come with the car.
Only reason for selling is that I have two classic Minis and this one does not get driven enough. The 1st picture is of a Saturday weekly drive to keep this car alive. As you can see it hits 70mph with no issues and the gaugesare right. It is right around 4000 rpm for 70 mph.
Deliveryis a possibility to neighboringstates from NC for agree cost. Frequent Army moves necessitateda customization to a 6x10 trailer. The truck used for towing is also listedon eBay.
