Description for Mitsubishi Montero 1989
I want to make sure you understand that this is a RHD vehicle and I imported it from Japan in 2014. I picked it up from Vancouver, Canada and drove all the way back to Bend, Oregon on one full tank. And, I still had enough fuel left to drive around for another week or two.I am presenting to you one of the most off-roadaccomplished, reliable and dependable diesel engine systems there is. The is a 1989 Mitsubishi Pajero / Dodge Rader with a 2.5 liter Intercooled diesel engine. When you speed up to highway speeds, you could hear the turbo kick in. This vehicle drives way faster than Land Rovers from the same year.
This vehicle is a good overallcondition for a 27 yr old. It has a few maintenance related issues I outline above.
I imported this vehicle from Japan in 2014 and I have driven it ever since. This vehicle is old and it will in no way drive like newer vehicles made today. But compared to the 1989 Land Rover defenders, this vehicle is way easier to drive and faster. I know this from experience because a buddy of mine bought a Land Rover Defender about the same time as me.
From start, just like all diesel engines, it slow but picks up speed as you go. I have taken it offroad a couple of times both on dry pavement and in snow. With it's low range 4wd and diesel type low-end torque, you will really enjoy crawling up steep hills. I do not have offroad tires on it but just all-weather Yokohama tires. There are no offroads in Japan, so this vehicle, like Rhodesian Ridge-backs, want to face the back country, really bad. If you raised the suspension and installed over-sizedtires, you will become an instant celebrity.
Extra Options, Fog lights, rear and front defroster, automatic door locks, power windows, 2WD/ 4WD Low and High, 4-Speed, overdrive mode, 7 seater, adjustable front seats, front seat comfort adjustment, Could be used as a camper with the middle seat folded into the floor, floor is carpet lined and many more.
