Description for Studebaker SkyHawk 1956
Selling my 56' Stude gasser project. A gracious fellow ebayer has informed me that the car is probably a power hawk or flight hawk. not a SkyHawk as previously described. Was run back in the day at tracks like US 30 & Oswego. Currently has a mild 350 (wrecked 98 Tahoe) with approximately 48. 00 miles. New Edelbrock 600 carb. vintage Streetmaster manifold. and mild cam. Runs very good. A TH350 trans and 10- bolt 3:08 (Nova) rear make the car currently very streetable and cruise night friendly. Made the trip from Chicago to Torquefest in Iowa last season with no problems whatsoever. Car has a Nova front clip grafted in. and was done very well. Car is very solid. with no rust. and just a little dough where the front end was smoothed. 1953 trunk lid. New mustang fuel tank installed with filler in trunk. Interior is in good shape. but could use a little tlc. such as new foam in the back seat to replace the brittle original. Stable crack in driver side window. but it's a flat piece so it's an easy fix. A full set of S/W "wings" gauges has been installed ($600+). but speedo cable needs to be fed through firewall. and fuel gauge needs to be wired to sending unit. All lights. turn signals. brake lights and switches work. Tilt steering column from an s10 has been installed. Good drum brakes all the way around but may need a different proportioning valve (cpp booster). Tires are nearly new. and will include both keystone slot rears and near new (3 passes) M/T slicks. tubes. and Summit racing drag steelies. ($800+). Low maintenance red satin paint. with old school hand painted lettering. This is a fun car to drive. and people go crazy over it at cruise nights. NOT a rat rod . and a great opportunity to own a unique. nearly sorted hot rod for very little money. I guarantee NO one in your neighborhood or cruise night has one !. Now. nobody likes to be surprised. so potential buyers are strongly encouraged to inspect or have the car inspected before bidding. Very happy to supply add'l photos if you need them. Also. please ask questions. either by phone or message. and I will answer them as honestly as I can. If you like the car. but not the price. feel free to CALL and make a reasonable offer. Please do not bid without the funds/permission/intent etc. to complete the transaction. Dave 815-557-6552. Car is for sale locally. also. so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Good luck !
