Description for Nissan 240SX 1989
MORE PICS can be seen below the description. Up for auction is a 1989 Nissan 240SX ~ Silvia spec. As seen in the pictures. the car has a Silvia front and rear end. It has a digital tachometer with a heads up display! Hard to believe that technology like this came out of Japan in the 90s. People that see it always comment on how cool it is. Shows 45k on the clock but it doesn't work. so the actual mileage on the chassis is unknown. Perhaps a carfax could shed some light on this. for someone who's interested. Mods include: SR20DET Blacktop swap ~ S13 5 speed Megan Motor and Transmission mounts to keep everything nice and stiff. 300Z front and rear brakes300Z rear axleMegan coilovers MB Weapon wheels wrapped in 235/40 R17 front and 255/40 R17 rear rubber. Megan front strut bar Greddy aluminum radiator with 300Z radiator cap. Nismo thermostat. to help keep the temps down along with a new OEM Nissan water pump. The straight through exhaust sounds epic when the SR sings. It's got that perfect tone and pitch that always brings a smile to my face. The Silvia has been serviced not too long ago with Redline transmission fluid. synthetic axle lube and coolant during the water pump change. I use various oil brands and weights. depending on the ambient temps with an authentic OEM Nissan Oil Filter from JAPAN! It ranges from 5w40 in the summer to 5w30 in the winter. The engine oil has been replaced probably 10 times within a year of installing the new block. as I flushed and cleaned things out. I've only put probably 5k miles on it as it is my weekend toy although I did daily it for a bit after the engine swap. to insure everything worked properly. This car is not a show car and has issues such as an oil leak around the block. The wiring is a zoo. thanks to the previous owner and definitely needs someone to clean it up a bit (i’m not an electrician and didn’t want to touch anything) The original weather stripping is giving up and there’s a pool of water in the trunk and the door seals will leak in heavy rain or when washing the car. The SR20DET is in stock form with a T25 turbo and runs great. The 5 speed tranny shifts smooth and without any issues. Now for a little history… I purchased the car with a slight knock in the original Red Top block. Within a week of ownership. the block called it quits when the knock got SEVERE one day during a regular drive. I limped it home and upon inspection. I discovered that one of the rods simply didn’t even have a bearing. There was a ton of metal shavings in the oil pan but it’s still hard to believe that it chewed through the entire bearing somehow. It still baffles me how it ran good and quiet until it knocked on the highway outta the blue. So I purchased a replacement block from JDM Orlando. picked it up and installed it at my cousins shop. Fired up from the first try. The old block had a T28 turbo on it but I decided to keep this SR stock for longevity and durability. Pulls a solid 8psi of boost vs the old block's 12psi that the T28 put out. The Intercooler used to be up front but the last owner had it redone and it now sits in front of the radiator. A new power steering rack was installed during the engine swap. In my opinion. the car needs to have the window tint redone as the original is blurry and hard to see through it. The oil leak around the engine needs to be fixed. The wiring needs to be cleaned up to be safer and avoid a short. I also had plans to redo the turbo and intercooler piping. to have it look cleaner and put the blowoff valve on the throttle body side but never got to it. Other then that. the car has been very reliable and extremely fun to drive. People always take pictures of it before I blast off. The new owner will love it. if an old fast beater without AC is your cup of tea.
