Description for Nissan 300ZX 1994
Vehicle DetailsPlease read all! Yes it’s long, just do it.
First the car, it’s a 1994 Nissan 300zx Twin Turbo Black/Black 5spd. 141k miles with some tasteful mods.
I saw an ad locally & drove by the shop one day in South Jersey that had a few Z32’s. Long story short a father/son small shop bought this car online needing some work, but were never going to get to it so threw a for sale sign on it. When they got it they did the basics, fluid changes, engine flush, detail, etc. but left the bigger work for the new owner. The price was a bit high in my opinion but my expert negotiating skills got it for a more reasonable price. I figured hey, I’m in a shitty rust state and this is a 94TT 5spd that lived it’s whole life in a rust free zone that someone obviously took care of (it has stacks of records) so I was interested. I spent a couple hours at their shop going through it while they were working. They told me that it’s smoking once it warms up, but other than that it runs really well….and it does! I said let’s do a compression test which checked out (150’s, but don’t take my word for it bring your tester). And dug a bit deeper. It’s leaking oil out of the driver side PCV, Valve cover gasket, and driver side turbo intake pipe has oil in it, with a leaking return line. From being around these cars for a bit, I’m guessing the driver side turbo seals are shot and that’s causing the smoke. The car still has all emissions equipment including cats. The Hicas light comes on and off and the code is for a speed sensor.
As far as the car, it starts right up and idles quietly. They informed me it had a lifter tick but the engine flush fixed that (I know it’s a common issue on these). It drives really nice, shifts through all of the gears with no grinds and still boosts to 9psi (stock). I haven’t driven it much obviously, but on the shake down I was pleasantly surprised. It has some small dings and scratches, but cleans up nice. Interior is near mint. I’d rate the exterior 7.5/10 and interior 9/10.
Yes, I did have the intention of keeping it and fixing it myself, and maybe even selling my other one…but I figured let me try and make a couple bucks and get it to someone else. Yes, I want to make a couple bucks, there’s nothing wrong with that! Hopefully it goes to an enthusiast, because once sorted it’ll be a clean one, especially for this area!
Some of the mods/basics include
Wedsport wheels
Z1 exhaust
JWT ECU/Pop Charger
Wilwood Big Brake Kit $$
Jspec tails
Powertrix strut bar
Original titanium key, one key fob
And more!
Car has a clean NJ title in my name. There has never been an accident and zero rust. I used some pics from their ad, so disclaimer there. Other than that feel free to ask any questions you may have. Like I mentioned, I have not owned this car long but am not unfamiliar with Z’s! Hope it goes to a good home. With that being said, it’s sold as is-where is! Bring your mechanic, I’m happy to crack open a beer or 2 and talk z32’s!
