Description for Oldsmobile Toronado 1968
I bought this car in July 2011from a man who said his father bought it new. It had been sitting inside a garage for several years. It had the rust when I bought it. I also had a 1969 Toronado that I took the engine and transmission out of and had them professionally rebuilt. The car had 33,217 miles on it when I bought it. The heads were done separately, osting $350.00. The engine overhaul was $1400.00. The transmission rebuild was $699.71. Other parts that I purchased and had replaced were the inner and outer front wheel bearings and seals. Both front half shafts (front drive axles). New heavy duty battery, 50 Edelbrock carburetor, ew fly wheel, ear inner and outer wheel bearings, ew oil sending unit, ew temperature sending unit, ront shocks, the rear has four shocks) I remember replacing two of them but according to my paperwork, had the other two replaced also. New front and rear brake shoes and wheel cylinders, ad a welder make a new gas tank (aluminum) for $375.00. Replaced hoses and belts, ad four new Big-O tires installed. New water pump, uel pump. wiper blades, lternator, aster cylinder, think. You name it, echanically, either put it on or had it put on. I have put a total of 724 miles on it since I bought it. As you can tell, rarely drive it. I mainly start it once in a while and drive it about ten to twelve miles to keep everything good on it. The car runs and shifts great. I found out too late that the welder who made the gas tank put in a 1/4 inch gas feed, r that was what I was told. He also put in a new fuel sending unit. Anyway, he car drives great unless you stomp on the accelerator, hen it bogs down and I believe is starving for fuel. I have not tried an electric fuel pump. I don't know if that would solve the problem or not. I would think the best way to do it would be remove the gas tank, lush it out thoroughly and redrill the hole and make it at least a 3/8 inch gas feed. The inside needs to be redone, specially the seats. The head liner was and I believe is still in good condition, he dash, oor panels floor coverings are still in good shape to the best of my knowledge. The body needs a lot of work. The vinyl top needs replaced, here is rust in several places. The worst being the lower rear quarter panels. Please check out the pictures. I don't believe that I had the air conditioner pumped down and recharged, o I don't know anything about the a/c. I am pretty sure that the trunk is solid. I do have some things in there and cannot see the entire trunk. I have used Amsoil and filters. I believe I used Amsoil transmission fluid and gear lube. These products are 100% synthetic. The lights and power windows all worked when I last checked, hich has been a while. I'm not sure if it has power seats and cruise control or not. I would not be afraid to drive the car cross country. If the car sits for a couple of weeks, he gas pressure drains off and has to pump it back up to the carburetor. The front fenders I replaced and spray painted, ot a great job. The radio antennae is mounted to the fender and may not be properly grounded. The radio did work prior to me replacing the fenders. The horn works by depressing the circular ring on the steering wheel. The speedometer is the barrel type, hich does work, egistered for 140 MPH I believe. I don't remember if the car has power seats or cruise control. I haven't driven it enough to know. If you have questions, lease ask before bidding. Or better yet, ome look at it for yourself. There is a non refundable deposit of $500.00 due within 48 hours of auctions end with the balance due in cash when car is picked up. I am selling the car as is with no guarantees. I have over $8000.00 in the car with repairs. I do still have the original engine and transmission. If the buyer would like, hey can be purchased for an additional $250.00.
