Description for Oldsmobile Cutlass 1970

Here at Streetside Classics, e do love our Oldsmobiles. Plenty of performance with a healthy dose of luxury on the side, lus some of the best-looking sheetmetal of the muscle car era. This 1970 Cutlass convertible offers the same great A-body look and handling at a fraction of the cost of a Chevelle or GTO and does it with a dose of Oldsmobile luxury that makes these cars special. For many enthusiasts, -body styling hit its zenith in 1970, o matter what your favorite brand, nd it's hard to find one that isn't drop-dead gorgeous. This one is an older restoration, o it shows some signs of use, ut in terms of visual impact, t still packs a wallop. The white paint is still shiny, it and finish is decent, nd the pinstripes are nicely done, ighlighting the dramatic curves of the fenders. Is it perfect? No. But it does have an honesty to it that you'll appreciate even more, ind of like the car up the street when you were a kid that you admired so much. Drive it without worries, ut the top down when it's sunny, nd never even think the word "trailer" again. Things like the front and rear bumpers are brand new, o they really shine up well, nd most of the plastic lenses appear to be recent additions, oo, imply because they look great. The rest of the bright trim is probably original and in great shape, rom the rib down the center of the hood to the stainless rocker trim. Most of the black interior was restored not too long ago, ncluding new seat covers, oor panels, nd carpets. There's no cracking or split seams, nd the dash pad still looks great, hich is important on a convertible that undoubtedly sees a lot of sun. Burled walnut inserts on the door panels match the dash, hich also has a basic set of instruments ahead of the driver and some white-faced auxiliary instruments for oil pressure, emperature, nd volts underneath. The factory A/C is fully functional thanks to an R134a refrigerant upgrade. An AM/FM stereo radio looks almost like it was born there and there's an aftermarket center console that offers cup holders and an auxiliary 12V power outlet for your phone or GPS. There's a tidy black power convertible top with glass rear window (this is an Olds, fter all), nd the trunk is finished with what appears to be the original mat and a full-sized spare with matching cover. Oldsmobile fans are rightly proud of the Rocket 350 that powers this Cutlass. Despite sharing the same displacement, he Olds small block has an entirely different personality from its corporate cousins. Famous for its torque production, n Edelbrock Performer 350 intake manifold and Holley 4-barrel carburetor make a noticeable difference in the engine's performance out on the road. There's also an upgraded HEI ignition system and a great-sounding Flowmaster dual exhaust system with long-tube headers. Finished in Oldsmobile Gold, t was rebuilt a few years ago and still runs extremely well and should continue to do so for years to come thanks to the high nickel content in the block that makes these engines quite durable. It's tied to a TH350 3-speed automatic and a stout 12-bolt rear end, nd with Oldsmobile's famous suspension tuning, t feels sporty without being harsh. And no sporty Olds is complete without a set of those handsome SS II wheels, ith these wearing 255/60/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials all around.Documented with a build sheet, ealer invoice, nd a stack of receipts for all the recent work, his is an Oldsmobile that looks great but isn't so perfect you'll be afraid to drive it.
