Description for Oldsmobile Cutlass 1973

Hello--up for sale, s my 1973 Hurst/Olds. It is #474 of only 1,097 Hurst/Olds' built in 1973. It is a numbers matching vehicle--meaning, t still has the engine, ransmission, nd rear end that it left the factory with.
In 1973, ldsmobile built 1,097 Cutlass S models, quipped with 455 ci. motors and Turbo 400 (automatic) transmissions, long with rear ends equipped with 3.08 gears (in air conditioned cars), r 3.23 gears (in non air conditioned cars). They were painted in either black or white, ad the 442 grills and the (louvered) 442 hood. They were then transported to the Hurst factory, here they were given many modifications, hus transforming them into the famous Hurst/Olds. The louvers in the hoods, ere covered by bolt on scoops, ith upward louvers, ore commonly known as the NACA hood ducts. The bodies received gold vinyl graphic stripes. The large triangular opera windows, ere filled in with plastic inserts on both the inside and outside, nd then covered by a custom padded, et look landau vinyl top, hich greatly reduced the size of the windows, nd gave the car a more elegant look. The front of the cars received hood ornaments, ith "Oldsmobile" scripted on both sides. The grills were painted flat black, xcept for the leading edges of the fins, hich were left silver/grey. The taillight surrounds were also painted flat black. H/O decals were applied on the center of the (now reduced) opera windows--which Hurst called, he "Mylar etched" opera windows, long with a H/O emblem on the lower right side of the trunk lid. Inside, hey received swivel bucket seats, ith wet look vinyl coverings, o go along with the vinyl tops. The floor consoles were equipped with the Hurst Dualgate shifters, long with H/O emblems placed just behind the shifters. An interesting note with these cars, s that the black painted cars received rally wheels painted black (to match the body color), hile the white cars received rally wheels painted gold (to match the stripes)!
This particular example, s painted Ebony Black, ith black top, nd black interior. (approximately 40% of the '73 H/O's were black, s opposed to 60% being in white) It has spent all of it's life in Texas, ntil being brought up to New York, ast year. The car was in storage from 1985 until 2011, here a complete restoration began, eing completed in 2014. The car was disassembled, he (original paint) body was stripped and repainted in the correct Ebony Black color. A new vinyl top was installed, xactly as the original. A reproduction vinyl graphics kit was applied. The original wheels were sandblasted and repainted. The underside of the car was sandblasted and powder coated. The trunk was refinished, nd has a properly equipped spare tire, ack, nd mat. On the inside, he seats were recovered with the correct wet look vinyl, ew carpet and sound deadener installed, nd the radio and rear speakers rebuilt. Note: this car still retains all of it's original body panels. The engine was rebuilt to stock specifications, he (3.08 geared) rear end rebuilt, nd the transmission opened, xamined, ound to be in good working order, nd was then serviced. The engine was painted, nd compartment detailed. New shocks and springs were installed, long with the suspension parts refinished or replaced, s needed. All new brake, uel, nd transmission lines were installed, long with a new gas tank. The radiator was recored. The air conditioning system overhauled. Five new P245/60R14 BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires have been installed. And, new, omplete exhaust system was installed. This is just the tip of the iceberg work-wise and parts-wise that went into this restoration, s you can plainly see. After the restoration was completed, he H/O was taken to the 2014 Oldsmobile Nationals, here it received first place and best in class awards!!
This car is equipped with air conditioning, ilt wheel, port steering wheel, lock, m-fm/8 track stereo radio, umper guards, ower steering and brakes, nd the optional Hurst digital tachometer. The engine runs great, he transmission shifts smoothly, nd it rides beautifully. It certainly lives up to the moniker of being the, executive hot rod"! This car has the idiot lights; as, ven on the 442's and Hurst/Olds', auges were optional. I have, owever, btained a factory gauge pod and (top of the dash mounted) 'fasten seat belt' light, hich will be included with the sale, hould the next owner wish to install them. I have the complete history of the owners and records/receipts to the car, long with copies of factory photos from when the H/O's were being converted, t the Hurst factory. As of the time of this listing, he car has 74,523 original miles.
