Description for Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight 1953

1953 Oldsmobile 98 four-door sedan. Very good entirely original condition. 303 c.i. engine (first version of the "Rocket" ), 08k miles, very accesory and option available at the time save A/C — power brakes (Bendix Treadle-Vac), ower steering, ydramatic auto transmission, utomatic tuning radio, Automatic Eye"headlamp dipper, lectrically-wound dash clock. Interior generally excellent save front armrests and the driver side headliner where mice got into it rhree years ago. The original upholstery is intact and excellent under sturdy but incredibly ugly seat covers installed by the original owner many years ago. The frame and underside are clean and uncorroded, he floor pans are solid (and the interior carpet and protective plastic first-rate) and the car is by my estimate about 97-98% rust free. The car has been garaged for all of the 23 years I've had it and was only on the road from May to early November when I was actively driving it; on the highway it did 70 with no effort and very smooth handling. It was last registered and on the road in 2011, ut I rebuilt the carburetor in 2013. I've never opened the engine as it runs very smoothly — I started it last week and it turned over fine. The vibrator needs to be replaced in the radio — I had it rebuilt once, nd vibrators don't last that long in these sets — and the passenger side door only opens from the inside as the outside button latch needs to be repaired. The brakes have gone from sitting and will have to be redone, ut the transmission and power steering are fine. I installed new front lever action shocks about fifteen years ago, ut really I've only put about 3000 miles on it since I've had it. I have the fender skirts; the metal on them is solid, ut the paint wore off one in storage. I drove the car without the skirts for convenience. This is a very nice car that will drive handsomely with minimal work and with care could be an exceptional example of an early 50s Olds. It's quite a grand car. Transport will be at the discretion and expense of the buyer. Payment expected within 5 days of sale. Please contact me with any questions you may have.
