For those that know the history of Oldsmobile they know that Harley Earl used this division at General Motors to make some of GM's most interesting concept/dream and experimental cars. This is verified through out history with the first muscle car being the 1950 Oldsmobile bubble top coupe followed by a series of important limited production Oldsmobiles. By the 1960s Olds produced the 1961 Olds Starfire with four-bucket seats/console car that was considered Old's hotrod in the early sixties. By the 1964 Olds found itself being outdone by the Pontiac GTO in 1964 and was given permission to make their own version of a hotrod Olds convertible and it was known as the 442. The original 442 in 1964 stood for four-barrel carburetor, our-speed transmission and dual exhaust. By 1965 Olds realized that their real customers didn't want the 4-speed transmission so they replaced it with an automatic but upped the ante on the engine compartment by dropping in their 400 cubic inch engine. The new insignia of 4-4-2 meant 400 cubic inches, -barrel carburetor and dual exhaust. Added to this combination were the bucket seats, enter console and the side scoops on the body. The net result was a truly luxurious sport touring car that went fast and didn't wear out your left leg and your right arm from constant shifting. It was a fabulous cross country touring car as well as a 'get up and go' off the line Oldsmobile production dragster for its day.

The car that you see in this ad is all of the above; 400 cubic inch engine, our-barrel carburetor, utomatic transmission, ual exhaust, ucket seats, onsole, actory tachometer and the best color combination you can find - red with a beautiful white interior.

Well you thought you couldn't ask for more then a 442 fully equipped, ecause back in the 1960s just about nobody got their convertible with air conditioning. It wasn't just a matter of money, ack then people considered it a little stupid to get air conditioning in a convertible if you were going to have the top down. What they forgot is that there are people in Texas, klahoma, rizona where temperatures get well into triple digits and yes it is hot and the sun is out and you don't want to put the top down and then you would certainly appreciate air conditioning. Guess what! This car is not only fully equipped with all the mentioned above but has FACTORY AIR CONDITIONING,

and not only is it factory air conditioning but it is working just fine and blows cold, old.

If you are looking for a medium sized sixties car (today that size would be considered a full size car) that you can take to the car shows, ake a tour across the United States or just have the pride of ownership of a great Oldsmobile in your garage - this could be the car you are looking for. We suggest that you take a hard look at the pictures and video and read the description and bid with confidence.

The seller has provided the following information:

This 2-door convertible was built in Lansing, I during the second week of April 1965.

The body of this car has been lifted off the frame and completely restored about ten years ago and still looks great. The floor pans are as solid as they were at day one and probably cleaner. All new body mounts have been installed. When sighting down the side it is very straight on both sides.

This car was completely repainted in Victory Red. Seller tells us that the paint has an excellent shine and depth.

The interior trim code is 957B. This was Oldsmobile designation for a white vinyl interior. That is exactly what is found in this car. The car has white seats and trim panels with a black dash and black carpet. There is a center console between the two bucket seats. At the front of the console is a tachometer. The glove box in the dash is home to a modern JVC AM-FM CD player stereo. The speakers for this stereo are found under the front seats. The original AM radio is still in the dash. The steering wheel is the original black two spoke wheel. There is a vanity mirror mounted to the passenger side sun visor. The rear view mirror has the day night option. This car has rare factory air conditioning, hich is fully functional. Both black carpet and the white vinyl seats are all original.

400 cubic inch V8 engine that is rated at 345 horsepower. The seller tells us that the engine starts easy and it does not smoke while running. The engine is the correct bronze color. The engine compartment is well detailed. The dual exhaust are complete with the constrictions in tailpipes to give this car that special 1965 442 sound. Note the only things that are not stock on the engine are the sensor for the water temperature gauge and a chrome fuel pump. Upgraded 3-Speed automatic transmission was installed for ease of driving. Original Jetway transmission will be included with the purchase of this car.

Upgraded 1969 Olds-Hurst wheels have been installed. The black centers have been power-coated and new chrome inserts and centers were installed.

White convertible top and boot. Upgraded with traditional snaps.

The chrome is in very good shape. The upper chrome molding is in good shape, ption B84, s not found on many of these cars.

Private seller has owned the car for 10 years and has enjoyed showing the car at cruise-ins and car shows and is always a crowd pleaser and has taken home many trophies from various local car shows.

Be sure to give us a call 847-774-4857 if all of your questions have not been answered prior to bidding.

Remember that 400 cubic inch with 345 horse power gives this factory Oldsmobile plenty of giddy up and go off the line. Smooth touring for long cross-country events and plenty of pride of ownership with its beautiful design and striking paint. If you live in the south or south west here is a great car with factory air conditioning! 1950s & 1960s convertibles with air conditioning are extremely rare. You can bid with confidence!
