Description for Oldsmobile 442 1971
Solid, riginal factory invoiceOn Oct-19-15 at 19:04:38 PDT, eller added the following information:I purchased this W machine about a year ago and unfortunately must let it go to make room for something else. The odometer reads 87,500 miles. I don't believe that to be original. The car is very tight and rides very nice like an Oldsmobile should. The acceleration and shifting are what you would expect of a W Machine.
Engine: The engine and Transmission were rebuilt shortly before I purchased it and is still for all intensive purposes freshly rebuilt as I have only put a couple hundred miles on it in the past year. The carb is number correct as well as the alternator(neitherare restamps). The heads are the appropriate H Heads with Julian codes proper to the date of manufacture for the 1971 year (strike year). The engine ID matches the VIN. The transmission is an OW code automatic and is numbers matching with the VIN.
Exterior: The paint is not the proper color for the car which is saturn gold. The rims should match the body and remnants of the original paint is visible in places. The body could be considered driver quality. The paint is certainly not high grade dupont and there are some random chips. I don't believe it would take much to return the car to it proper color. The hood is not a reproduction. The grill has a small chip in it.
Interior: Seats and Door skins are new and restuffed properly for firm seating. The carpet is good. Dash is complete with no cracks. The console and kick plates are faded but can likely be easily restored. The factory tach does not work and the previous owner installed an aftermarket. It wouldnt take much to restore the original tach
Undercarraige:This car has a solid frame, loor pans and trunk. There is very minimal surface rust and no rot.
Provenance: I hold the original factory invoice for the car. This is not a mini and has the proper backside indicating a legitimate document.
