| 1958 Oldsmobile Super 88 - Holiday 4 Door Sedan Hardtop Body & Paint: The paint is still original on this 19,215 mile vehicle. It is in excellent condition without any fading, hecking, hin spots, r bubbles. The colors are called "Mountain Haze" and "Victorian White." The factory paint code is 68-90. (See photo of cowl trim tag.) The paint looks great with only a few very little chips or marks. Even the biggest chip is very small and would be very easy to touch up. (See close up photo of this chip in the photo gallery. Photos #37 and #38.) The body is extremely solid and rust free. The body panel fit and alignment looks good. All the doors close with ease. The vehicle still has its factory "T3" headlights installed. (All four of them are working fine.) Chrome & Trim: All of the chrome, tainless steel and emblem pieces are original! They all look very good with only a few of the small chrome trim pieces starting to show a little peppering. 1958 was the year of the chrome, nd this vehicle has a lot of it. The stainless steel trim mouldings are straight and without any ding or major scratches. Interior: Again, ll original. The factory "Charcoal and Ivory" (Trim Code 370) interior is in excellent condition. When the vehicle was new, he owner had plastic seat covers installed. These plastic covers are still on, eeping the original seats looking like new. The door panels are also in great shape with only the black vinyl piece on the driver's door arm rest that is cracking. (Temporarily repaired with black tape.) The factory black padded dash doesn't have any cracks or other problems. The interior chrome, nobs, andles, nd other trim pieces are all beautiful. The headliner looks nice, ut is very delicate due to its age and type of material. The original black carpet is in great condition with only minimal wear by the driver's door sill area. It is not faded and stained. Everything was gone over and checked to make sure it was in working order. Lights, orns, auges, adio, eater controls, ipers, urn signals, ack up lights, tc.. The clock is the only item that doesn't consistently work. Engine Compartment: 99% original. The engine compartment still retains the original look right down to the correct hose clamps. The compartment houses the original 371 cu. in. "Rocket" V8 engine with only 19,215 miles on it. It starts, dles and runs great. You will be amazed on how nice this engine performs. It pulls very strong and sounds awesome. The Jetaway automatic transmission shifts out nice and firm and does not slip. See the "Mechanical" section listed below to find out everything that was done to the vehicle once it was removed from storage. Trunk Compartment: Turn back the clock to 1958. Open the trunk lid and you will see what it looked like in '58. The original trunk material is in great shape. The new spare tire and wheel matches the other four that are on the car. The correct jack, ack stand, andle and jacking tools are all stored in their locations. Glass: All of the glass pieces are original to the vehicle including the front windshield. The side windows roll up and down with ease and no problems. The vent windows operate as they should. The rear glass piece has a few very small nicks in it. The chrome and stainless steel trim pieces around the windows are excellent. Wheels & Tires: Stock original 1958 wheels and wheel covers. All are in great shape. The 8.50-14 whitewall tires were new in 1978. The original owner installed these new tires right before he placed the vehicle into store. (The tire size stickers were still on the tires when the vehicle was removed from storage a few months ago. Still have these stickers.) The tires do have a flat spot from sitting over the years. This flat spot is only noticeable at highway speeds and may go away once the vehicle is driven a little more. Mechanical: The vehicle was put into storage in 1978. It was removed from storage and then gone over by an Oldsmobile Club of America member that knows these vehicles pretty well. Here is what was done to the vehicle: The fuel system was completely gone through, eplaced the fuel pump, ubber fuel line and fuel float/sending unit. The fuel tank was removed, leaned and re-installed. The cooling system was flushed and a new water pump, hermostat, oses, eater hoses and belts were installed.
