Description for Oldsmobile 442 1967
I am selling my dad's 1967 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible for him because I use computers and he doesn't. The vehicle was restored before my dad bought it approximately 10 years ago. I don't know everything about the vehicle, owever between asking my dad what he knows and Googling around I was able to decode most of the original data plate on the firewall under the hood and have found it is consistent with the the vehicle's features such as paint color, onvertible top color, nterior trim type and color, hrome drip moldings, tc. I was not able to decode a few numbers and the previous owner gave my dad a box of A/C parts he had removed, o it's possible the other few numbers relate to it. Also, he body style code on this tag corresponds to the vin tag found under the driver's door top hinge. (I have photos of the tags that I can provide upon request).Here is what I was able to decode from the firewall tag:
- Manufactured the 3rd week in September, 967 at the Fremont, alifornia GM plant.
- It was the 958th Convertible 442 that was produced in Fremont.
- Body style is a Cutlass Supreme 442 Convertible.
- Trim is 2-door w/black bucket seats.
- Paint is antique pewter on bottom with white vinyl top.
- Accessories include chrome roof drop moldings
The vehicle looks, rives, nd sounds great! The convertible top opens & closes perfectly. However keeping it in my garage anddrivingit the past few months I have found a fewsquawks;
- Some of the dash panel lights don't work, n particular the speedometer, he analog clock, nd the heat & A/C controls. The fuses are ok so I suspect the bulbs need to be replaced.
- The analog clock doesn't work.
- The heater fan doesn't seem to work. Not sure if it's a burned out motor or aproblemwith the fan control switch on the panel.
- I think there is a transmission fluid leak at the bearing where the drive shaft exists the transmission case.
- Fuelgaugedoesn't work. I had the fuel sending unit in the tank replaced so the problem must be with thegauge.
- There's a good scratch in the left rear quarter panel. The body metal isn't bent, ut you can see the scratch is into the primer. I or whoever buys it needs to have a small touchup color matched and mixed up to cover this up.
- The front brakes are discs. Unless Oldsmobile offered disc brakes in 1967 and the unknown numbers on the data plate possibly indicate this, think these were converted.
- The previous owner installed a small 3rd party tachometer on the steeringcolumn.
This is a vintage classic vehicle and is sold as-is. While this vehicle operates fine for my dad and me and is currently in the condition I've described above, his sale does not come with a warranty,guarantee, r claim, mplied or expressed, hat the vehicle is road worthy, ill operate, s I've described it here, r meets any previous or current safety standards for you once you purchase it and transport it to your location. I have no knowledge of the vehicle's frame integrity,power train,safety restraints and the vehicle's safety systems andmechanisms, r any part(s) of the car having been previously deemed by a professional car mechanic or expert in automotive safety being in an unsafe condition. However this does not imply that the vehicle for sale here is being sold in a safe condition. It is theresponsibilityof the buyer, r buyer's mechanics or contracted 3rd party, o confirm the vehicle is in a safe operating condition and road worthy before operating it on public roads. The buyer agrees to hold the owner, he owner's agent (me), nd the owner's and agent's immediateand extended family harmless if the buyer encounters general condition, perational/mechanical, r safety problems or discrepancies after purchase which result in a car crash, ccident, njury, r death. IT IS THE BUYER'S RESPONSIBILITY TO CONFIRM THE OPERATIONAL SAFETY AND ROAD-WORTHINESS CONDITION OF THIS VEHICLE BEFORE IT IS OPERATED ON ANY ROADS, UBLIC OR PRIVATE.
