1965 Oldsmbobile Cutlass

Submitted for your approval is a 1965 Oldsmobile Cutlass 2 door Sports Coupe with PS, B and Air Conditioning. The ac is all there, ut does require retrofitting and a recharge. The car is red (original color, ifferent shade) with a red, ucket seat, olumn shift interior that HAD to have been recovered. Why would someone order a new car with bucket seats and no console? I have no idea, ut with the parts available, his could be an easily performed conversion. The 330 engine runs strong and the Jetaway Transmission was just serviced and operates well. No leaks or burning oil on either. The original carb was replaced (I might have an original carb laying around). Upper stainless trim along body panels from front to back, ower trunk release, ront seat belts and one option I have never seen on another Cutlass (maybe I need to get out more), xtra stainless window trim near the side windows on both sides. The bumpers are acceptable as driver bumpers, ut they are not straight in any sense of the word. The best thing about them is that the front bumper is not all rotted out like I have seen so many others. The car is also equipped with 1966 SSI rims. If Oldsmobile had had a decent set of rims for the cars in 1965, hey would be on here. The AM radio functions although you need to raise the antenna all the way up in order to to get reception.
Having grown up in the Northeast, have seen my fair share of 1960's cars with enough rot that you could drive through so when this car, n all its glorious original sheet metal came into my life, could not pass it up. My original plan was to use the body as a donor body for a 442 project I was working on at the time. I could not dissect this car and decided to hold onto it. Since I have owned her, he is always garage kept and never driven in inclement weather. The sheet metal and floors (aside from the trunk pan) are all in solid condition. If you feel so compelled, his would make for a very nice 442 clone, ut please remember, f you clone a 1965 442 use the correct engine and not a 330, 25 or 455.
This was originally a Texas car and is relatively rust/rot free with only two exceptions…the rear window has the usual issues with leaking into the trunk, hich in turn, aused the trunk to rot. The pans will need to be replaced at some point. Someone who owned it before me, dded an electric fan to the engine area. I am guessing because of those hot Texas Summers. It was not installed that neatly and could probably stand to be neatened up some (assuming you do not simply remove it).
On the passenger side rear quarter panel there are two spots requiring attention. One spot, irectly above the rear bumper was creased in slightly. Along the top of the rear quarter, bove the wheel well, s a fairly significant scratch that requires repair. The rear quarter will require a respray as a result. When it was repainted (prior to my ownership), t was not block sanded and the paint is wavy. There is some stitching that came undone in the headliner. This can be repaired or replaced. The speedo is not currently operating, ut I plan to sort that out this week.
