Description for Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight 1981
When you woke up this morning, were you thinking, "Gee, I really missed out on the chance to buy one of the greatest American Treasures of all time! The Olds Ninety Eight Regency Diesel"Well don't let this one pass you by.
I purchased this to build a sleeper drag car, but I do not have the heart to cut it up. There is probably not any other like it left.
This car is a time capsule. I cannot for legal purposes call it Mint, but its as damn close as you will find.
I purchased this from a gent who worked for my company for 50 years. He took supreme care of his possessions. This car was inside it's whole life, the Landau is PERFECT, he oiled it! The plastic on the seat was there when I got it.
The paint is a 9/10. There are two small shots, one on each side from a moron opening a door into this majestic creature.
Interior, besides the headliner, is a 10. The dash is not cracked, steering wheel is perfect.
The engine rums 100% perfect. He was a diesel mechanic. It does not smoke much at all, which I was told is because it is timed right. People used to tweak the injection timing for better performance, but that resulted in mechanical failures. This is a DX block.
Tires are new looking, not dry rotted.
I washed it off, and drove it down the road, and THREE out of the FOUR bumper fillers did not make it back with me. They must be dust. They were on there when I got the car.
The trunk is full of extra filters, manuals, belts, an extra set of glow plugs and injectors.
There is no rust (Besides minor surface dust on bare metal such as the exhaust)I did not give the engine compartment the slick of tire shine like most people do, but I can if you'd like me to!
Do you want your kids to experience the plush ride of a fullsize American sedan just like you did?Did you grow up with your grandfather chainsmoking with the windows up in a similar vehicle?
Don't let this unicorn pass you bye. There may not be another like it out there!
The whole car is 100% original, the radio was changed to an auto reverse tape unit, the original one is in the trunk!
Flaws....
Headliner is falling down in the rear, surprise! I put two tacks in it just to hold it up for now.AC is inoperative, it is still R-12, power antenna works but is disconnected. Everything else works as it should. Also the 3 bumper fillers which were 100% my fault.
