Description for Oldsmobile Cutlass 1966
This is a nice clean 1966 low mileage Cutlass convertible car. Needs nothing to be a driver and enjoy as is. It is a very well optioned car having power steering, power brakes, power windows, power driver seat, power (vacuum) trunk release, power top, power antenna, tilt steering column, Air Conditioning, floor mounted shift with console and bucket seats. Everything works except the air conditioning which is provided but is removed from the vehicle. The compressor turns freely and all controls work, but it does not blow cold air, the heater core is new, and the heater works very well. A well maintained car with many receipts forwork since 1976.
Exterior. The body has never had rust. Factory colors were red with red interior. It was painted in 2009 and is still presentable, good shine, see pictures. There was no body rust on this vehicle when it was painted and still remains as such having been stored in a heated garage since I have owned it. The chrome and stainless, as well as all the bright work is good, way above average, with a good shine. Pot metal is not pitted. The top is in very good condition, from Robbins Top Co. a well known good quality top. The power top works well, the top motor has been replaced.
Interior is in great condition and appears very nice and clean (see photos). The interior was done several years ago but remains in great condition. The seats are comfortable, the carpet is new, and floor mats are original and nice. The console is clean and pretty, the vacuum gauge works well. The shifter works fine. All interior lights work well. Glove box light and cigarette lighter are inoperable. The power windows work fine. Power driver seat works. Trunk release located in glove box works fine. Purchased and installed an original 1966 radio correct for this vehicle.
Drivetrain. Original 330ci engine with 4bbl carburetor and Jetaway transmission. The engine starts quickly and runs good, it has had an electronic ignition installed in place of the points system as well as alternator and battery. The transmission works well. The rear end is great, it has had new bearings and seals, receipt is there, universal joints replaced. The brakes are good. Radiator is newer replaced several years ago with few miles since. No problems with the way it runs or drives, according to the receipts the front suspension and steering components have been mostly replaced. I had it checked and aligned. New rear air shocks and four new BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires. New Edelbrock four barrel carburetor (have original as well).
This car was built in Freemont CA, sold in Palo Alto CA, the original dealer tag trim is still present. The same family has owned since 1976, up until I bought it, took good care of the car and kept it inside. It is not a show car, but is in good condition as is. I am proud to drive it and go to the cruises, and you will be too. Everything works good, except as mentioned. Wipers, back up lights, turn signals (they don't cancel) emergency brake (has an emergency brake warning light), work fine. Tilt column is tight. It just doesn't have major problems anywhere.
As the pictures show in the engine compartment, it is not detailed, but is all there and well maintained. I am well pleased with the car, and would expect you will be also. It is a great cruiser.
