Description for Oldsmobile Starfire 1962
This 1962 Oldsmobile Starfire was one of 7,149 convertibles built that year making it a very rare care. I believe I am the 3rd owner. It was originally a California car and purchased by a friend of the family in 2011 and shipped to Pennsylvania where the restoration began. All told, over $30,000 was put into a complete interior restoration (to factory specs), engine and transmission rebuild, and new convertible top, period correct tires, etc.. The pictures in the listing tell the story!! This car is beautiful inside and it drives down the road like a big sofa! I purchased the car 3 years ago when the family friend fell into poor health and could no longer take care of it or drive. I love owning and driving this car but sadly, I need money for a down payment on a new home. We recently moved to Florida from Pennsylvania and I drove the car the entire 1100 miles so I have no worries it can be driven anywhere in the country if needed. The car is titled in PA and has antique PA plates which can be transferred if the next buyer lives in PA. The car is currently located in Lakeland FL.On to the good stuff:Original 394 cu.in. V8 .. 345 HP (rebuilt 2000 miles ago)Original Hydromatic transmission (rebuilt 2000 miles ago)power driver seatpower windowspower convertible top (new top, motor, and skeleton)rare chrome air cleaner option6 period correct starfire hub caps (i replaced them with baby moons but they go with the car)restored interior to VIN and factory specs (see pics)restored trunk (see pics)original mileage (to the best of my knowlwdge)original paint ( yes it needs a new paint job but some people love the barn find, survivor look!)new tiresnew brakesThe body is very straight with the exception of one area in front of the rear passenger tireChrome is in nice conditioncomes with a fitted car cover as wellThe bad:The radio does not work but it is original. I never investigated it.The heater fan does not appear to work. Its a convertible and since i have never driven it in bad weather, I didnt bother with it.The antenna does not raise or lower with the switch in the glove box.Obviously needs a paint job (in my opinion). This would be a perfect candidate for a winter restoration to complete the process!!!Drive side mirror is aftermarket (I hate it, but it works)
I have tried to present this car honestly. The car drives great, pulls very nicely, stops well and is very comfortable. It is not perfect and the reserve price reflects that. This could easily be a $45000 with a good paint job and some detail/TLC.
This car is "AS IS". $500 is required within 48 hours of auction completion and the rest is required within 7 days. I can store the car in my garage for up to 30 days at an additional cost.
