1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme

This Oldsmobile was built at the Oldsmobile Lansing Michigan assembly plant the fourth week in September 1971. It was shipped to Herber Jones, Inc. and and according to the PROTECTO-PLATE was placed in demonstrator service on November 5, 1971. Ed Kelly purchased this Oldsmobile on March 23, 1972 from Herber Jones, Inc. (dealer code 09-332) in Middletown Ohio. Ed owned this Cutlass until January 2013 or almost 40 years. I am the second owner and have listed a copy of the original Ohio title and the original PROTECT-O-PLATE.

According to the Mr. Kelly this beautiful Cutlass Supreme has never been in an accident and over the years has been refurbished both cosmetically and mechanically. In 1989 Mr. Kelly had the local GM dealer replace both front fenders and rear quarters with NOS parts. Mr. Kelly planned on keeping the car and he was concerned with some minor rusting of the wheel opening edges.

The original 455 CID engine has the correct VIN number...See the photo here. It has been been completely rebuilt including new motor mounts, new camshaft, new pistons, lifters, bearings, carburetor and gaskets.

The original R400 transmission (Correct transmission tagis shown in the photo here) has also been rebuilt. The A/C system has been completely rebuilt and converted to R124.

In the last two years the front and rear suspension has been updated with new springs and shocks. There is a new set of reproduction SSIII wheels and Coker radial tires (P225/70R14 T/A RWL) installed. Recently most hoses and all under hood belts have been replaced. The engine compartment was disassembled painted and cleaned three years ago. The complete interior including the dash assembly was removed and cleaned. At that time as the photo here illustratesthere is NO floor pan rust. The interior is original except the front seat cushion covers and numerous replacement bright items. This Oldsmobile runs extremely well…it is tight and quiet. All body fits are very good. This is a two owner 455 Cutlass is very good condition. Original owner states the mileage is correct and original.
