Description for Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight 1962
1962 Oldsmobile Super 88 *79,800 act. miles. I bought it back at the beginning of this year just outside of Hershey Pa. It was orig. from Muscatine, Iowa. It was purchased from Henderson's Chevrolet Oldsmobile, Nov. 30th, 1961. The original owner passed away in 2000. It was bought from her estate and moved to Cedar Rapids Iowa. Sometime between 2003 - 2006 it was purchased by the gentleman in Pa. It was parked in a warehouse with many other cars where it rested for at least 10 yrs. (see photos) Car still has an open Iowa title. Original owners "protecto plate" booklet with the metal plates still in the booklet. (see photo)I Have a stack of receipts for replaced parts: new front / rear semi-metalic brake shoes, new wheel cylinders, new rear brake lines and rear hose, front wheel cylinders, front hoses and short lines. All 4 drums looked great. Blasted all 4 drums and rims, primed and repainted. Had the engine cleaned, repainted everything with correct engine colors. New water pump and belts, radiator looks to be in great cond.,fresh anti-freeze, new radiator cap and heater hoses, new fuel filter, new rubber line from the tank to the fuel pump.New air shocks on rear, have new front shocks too but need to be installed. Removed gas tank, checked it and painted it.Dropped the trans. pan, installed new filter and new fluid. Put everything back together, and drove it down the road. The transmission does'nt seem to want to shift right. It is a "Roto 10 Hydramatic w/overdrive - (slim Jim they call it) The fluid was not burnt, there was absolutely no pieces of anything in the bottom of the pan, and I believe it had never had a fluid change. Low and reverse is strong as an ox, just does'nt want to shift properly. On jack stands it will go through all the gears. Car will need new front end bushings, normal stuff for a 54 year old automobile.
The body is in much better shape than average. has some damage to the R/F fender and side mldg. Light surface rust in small spots. All doors are solid, as well as the inner and outer rockers. Bottom of left qtr. panel needs minor rust repair, right Qtr. not as much. Bottom of fenders look good, NO holes in the floors or trunk pans. Bumpers will need some repair. Interior pretty good, the headliner and sunvisors still look nice. Only the drivers door panel needs repair, the other 3 look great. You might want to do seat covers and carpet. Speaking of looking great, look at the dash! Chrome is excellent, dash pad looks awesome - no cracks whatsoever. ALL the dash lights work, Radio sounds good. All the lights and signals, wipers, brake lights work fine. Nice set of whitewall tires. Door handles inside and out have NO pitting whatsoever, all of them look great. One small crack in corner of drivers glass, rest of glass very nice cond. Again- This car has an open Iowa Title.
Engine is a 394 Rocket V8. 4 barrel, 330 HP. - 420 ft. lbs. of torque.Starts right up, runs fine, carb. had been gone through sometime recently but seems to need some adjustment.
Could say more about this Super 88, but have wrote a book on it already. Need to sell, have another project I need to start on. It sits only in a carport and it kills me to have no real shelter for this nice Super 88, and tired of laying in the dirt to work on it. Price is $3,500 - or best offer. I Have alot more in it than the asking price plus many hrs. of labor involved, and it's certainly worth more than the asking price. When was the last time you saw a 62 Super 88 riding down the road? Well, that's it. Email any time you want - will answer as soon as I can. If you want any more pictures or have questions just email me. **Deposit due $500.00 - The rest in CASH at time of pick up. >>>>>I need this car picked up and paid for as soon as possible after the auction is over. <<<< ALL shipping arrangements must be done by you and quickly please. God bless.
