Description for Oldsmobile Toronado 1969
The car is in need of restoration. It is a good base car to restore. Mechanically the car is in good condition. It needs body work and paint having some light hale damage. The interior has rips and the headliner is torn. I bought the car on ebay and have put a lot of work into rebuilding it. Ihave had the transmission rebuilt, the brakes are completely rebuilt including new master cylinder, drums, rotors, calipers, pistons and pads all around. The engine is out of a 1966 Toronado and I was told that is was rebuilt, but I have no way of proving it. The engine is strong andruns fine. The carburetor was also rebuilt, new alternator, new water pump. I have installed air shocks in the rear that put the car at a perfect level ride height. I have the original engine on an engine stand and I have installed a W-34 Cam in it, new lifters, rods, timing gears, chain, high volume oil pump. But, that engine a 455 needs to be rebuilt, machine work. The original engine comes with the car if you want it. The car rides smooth down the road and steers straight as an arrow. It hasBF Goodrich TAs on it that I put on with low miles. The car came out of Colorado originally, and the frame is solid with solid floors. It will also need some exhaust work. The system should be replaced. The odometer is not working.I feel as though the car was misrepresented when I bought it as the seller inferred that is was a driver and it was not.SoI wantto be clear. This is a great car and it is a driver now. It's a great driver, but needswork to be restored.I have put more time and money into the car than I will ever get back. That is not a bad thing, but I really wanted to restore a 1966 Toronado, this car was supposed to be a complete driver and again was misrepresented. But, I will still be sad to see it go. It's been fun to drive around to car shows and I have enjoyed the car overall.
