Description for Oldsmobile Cutlass 1990

The car was purchased new in 1990 at Circle Oldsmobile in Northwest Indiana. It has had 2 owners prior to me and has always been well cared for. I purchased the car from the second owner around 2003 as a project. The engine had spun a bearing and the prior owner simply wanted to move on verses fixing it. I acquired the car and started what would be become a labor of love, some might say insanity, to bring the car back to near like new condition.
Over the years the following work has been done to the car. Almost all of this work can be verified via receipts that will come with the car.
  • Used engine installed to remedy initialissue with spun bearing.
  • Transmission rebuilt
  • Suspension and steering systems 100% rebuilt....all components including rack and pinion.
  • New sub frame/engine cradle
  • AC system rebuilt including new compressor, drier, condenser, etc.
  • New fuel injectors
  • New alternator
  • Various sensors and gaskets replaces as needed over the years
  • New fuel pump, complete assembly
  • Brakes and calipers as needed (for those who know their GM W-bodies of this era, you will understand)
  • New power window motors and power lock actuators
  • Driver side rebuilt seatcushions
  • New headliner
  • Front drive axles and hub assemblies
  • Complete new roof installed due to rust from sunroof. This was no small task, all glass was removed and the old roof was removed and a new one was installed. This was not a POR-15 the old rust and move on repair.
  • Lower body and interior trunk rust was repaired. All body cladding was removed and any and all rust found anywhere on the body was cut out and replaced with new metal. This includes the lower rocks behind the cladding as well as a portion of the trunk floor. This also included the famous W-body rust behind the rear wheel wells. This was not cheap nor was it fast but sadly a VERY small amount of rust is starting to reappear over one wheel well.
  • The car has never been involved in an accident but various body panels were painted due to age and normal wear and tear. All dents that have occurredover the year have been removed via paintless dent removal, not filler and paint.
Items that come with the car.
  • Original steering wheel, current one in the car was a used wheel with nicer condition leather.
  • Spare horn pad assembly (with buttons)
  • Original wheels in need of refinishing. Current wheels were purchased used from a person who had them removed from their car when new and stored the wheels for 15 yrs. The wheels on the car are like new.
  • Various OEM emblems for the car, including numerous International Series emblems as well as the Cutlass Supreme emblems for the doors.
  • Additional stripe tape to match the grey stripe tape on the car
  • All original manuals that came with the car
  • Factory GM shop manual from 1990
  • Haynes manual
  • Dealership brochures and literaturefrom the time the car was purchased new.
  • Both sets of original GM keys.
  • Bra and hood protector
  • Custom made Olds Rocket mats.
  • Olds steering wheel cover to protect wheel from sun
  • Custom made to fit California Car cover
The not so good....The engine has been pulled with the plans to install a new engine, including all new components that go along with that. Life happens and at this point I need to be realistic and admit I will not be able to find the time to complete this project at this time. I am including with the sale of the car a brand new short block, brand new heads, as well as all gaskets, sensors, etc that are needed for the install. You will need to furnish a couple of misc things but overall most everything is there. The engine stand that the short block is currently on will come with the sale also.
The car will need to be towed and we may need to remove the transmission to safely roll the car. I can help if needed.
I have enjoyed this car for a long time and while I understand it is not a 65 Mustang and many will never understand why one would spend so much time and money on a GM W body, it is what I liked and I hope someone else can enjoy it in the future.
It a great car that is ready to be put out to pasture just yet!
P.S. She enjoys Bob Seger music and long drives along the Michigan coastline.
P.S.S. Any of your involved in the Oldsmobile Club of America may recognize the car as it was a frequent visitor to the HomecomingShow in Lansing, MI. It was even once featured on the cover to of their newsletter.
If you have any questions at all please do not hesitate to ask. I have tried to include everything that has come to mind but I am sure I missed something.
**I just noticed the accident on the Auto Check report. This was technically an accident no damage was done to the car at all. It probablyhappened at less than 5mph but a report was made and hence the event trigger on Auto Check.
