Description for Oldsmobile Delta Custom 1968
This Delta Custom 4-door hardtop comes with new tires, complete brake job all around ($900 included master and wheel cylinders and lines where needed), and new matching headliner. I bought this car from an estate. The original owners were husband and wife (wife last one to pass away in 2004). The car was parked in their son’s barn since 2000 (when wife quit driving). I bought it from their son who was the personal administrator of the estate. Have copy of the original title and all registration cards from 1968 to present. This is an original with everything like it was when purchased in 1968. It has the 455 rocket engine. It drives and runs perfect. I use it occasionally all during the summer time. It had some mice in it over the time it sat in the barn, which was the reason I replaced the headliner. They had gotten into headliner and only way to remove and clean area was to replace it all. I bought this car as it was like one in my high school days and intended to fix everything wrong and get it painted as well. The only thing left to do regarding the mice is to take out the duct work and clean out or replace as it still has a slight mice smell to it. Now we are moving and I have no place to work on it or keep it. Everything works like it is supposed with a few exceptions which are 1)wiper washer - when you push the washer it will continue to run unless you shut off the switch, so I disconnected the power line below the washer fill for now. The wipers otherwise work correctly, so likely does need a new switch 2)power seat does not move - you can hear a click noise when you move the buttons but no movement, so assume the motor is stuck and needs to be replaced 3)AC does not blow cold air – all vent and heater functions work as they are supposed to as well as the fan controls 4) right blinker hold not functioning – when you push up blinker lever it blinks correctly, but it won’t stay on if you let go of it. It work correctly for left side so must be a plastic hold/release piece broke or something. I just hold the lever up until starting the turn and then let go while I take right turns 5)the front radio speaker does not work – back one is fine but when you switch fade to front, no sound.
I do enjoy driving it and have put on about 2500 miles in the 2 years I have owned it. I would trust this one on a cross country drive. You could drive it home if you wanted to.
As you can see from the pics, there is some surface rust on the fenders by the corners near the windshield. It is not rusty on the bottom sides or quarter panels around wheels like you might see some. The body is solid and the only damage is to the right back corner. The corner was caught with a tractor loader when it was stored in the barn. It dented fender slightly and pulled the back bumper slightly back from that impact. The interior is pretty good but it does have a couple of tears in front seat by driver’s door, and a few stains on the seat. Otherwise it needs little. As I mentioned, the headliner is new matching the original style and color. If you’re looking for something from the 60’s era, this is the one. An original with no modifications, note it has the original Oldsmobile floor mats that came with it.
I also have electronic files (PDF) of 1968 Fisher Body Service Manual and 1968 Oldsmobile Chassis Service Manual.
