Description for Oldsmobile Starfire 1965
Performance, luxury, and a truly unique presentation - we already know why you're attracted to this 1965 Oldsmobile Starfire. After all, with the large 425 V8 under the hood, great color combo, and loaded luxury interior, it's more than just a pretty face at an affordable price. The Starfire's original mission was to be Oldsmobile's large personal luxury coupe, and this one continues that tradition perfectly. A recent professional respray of the factory-correct Sterling Mist really pops in the sunlight... thanks to a modern clearcoat finish. It brings out the style of the well-creased sheetmetal. In fact, speaking of the body, take a moment to appreciate what this one has to offer. The wraparound chrome bumpers cleanly integrate into the extra wide front and rear panels; the hardtop design has a sporty silhouette; the impossibly long curve of the rear window; and sheetmetal that has an athletic kick-up integrated into the rear fender. This is '60s styling at its best. And you even get a great period-correct performance upgrade with the 17-inch American Racing Torq Thrust wheels. With bucket seats and a center console, this was the envy on the neighborhood in '66. Premium Oldsmobiles had a great dual luxury and performance spirit that is represented quite nicely here. The color and pattern on the light blue seats nicely match the door panels and headliner. And the carpeting is finished in a deeper blue, so you don't have to worry about dusting off your shoes before going for a drive. This is a full-size coupe, so there's plenty of room for family and friends, but the best treats are reserved for the driver. You'll love getting behind the original steering wheel and looking at the full gauge package, including the speedometer set in the deep "V". And just ahead of the gearshift on the center console is a cool factory tach. There are even nice upgrades like an AM/FM/cassette radio and air conditioning. But the feature you'll love the most are the power windows. You can roll all of them down without ever having to leave the driver's seat, and so it's easy to show off the great pillarless hardtop profile. Under the hood is a 1965-correct 425 cubic-inch V8. It looks terrific with the bold red on the block, valve covers, and factory air topper. The Starfire motor has the same reputation and similar makeup to the rest of the famous Rocket big block line. This high-compression V8 produced some of the best power of the era, and it still is a force to be reckoned with today thanks to a four-barrel carburetor. And when you peg the accelerator to the floor, the dual exhaust howls with a big power rumble. But what you really want to know is how this one glides down the road like a true luxury Olds should. Features like the three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, and the grip of more modern directional tires give this a fine cruiser feeling. Here's a truly fantastic coupe that people rarely see on the vintage car scene today. So at this price, we know it will be going to a new home soon. Call today!!!
