Description for Oldsmobile Cutlass 1971
1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. Rocket 350 4 barrel engine with TH-350 automatic transmission. 118,850 miles. This car was purchased new in Dallas back in March 1971, and was a one-owner car when I located it and purchased it earlier this year. It was last licensed/inspected 24 years ago (1994), and may not have been driven since then until I replaced the fuel system and brake system and got it running/driving.Original title, owners manuals, and protect o plate included. Triple white, bench seat, factory A/C.
This car still has the original/factory lacquer paint, vinyl top, and interior (with the exception of the new carpet and partial front seat repair). It starts and runs very well and drives smooth. The carpet and padding on the passenger front got wet while in storage, and required some rust repair. There is a very small amount of rust behind each of the rear wheels. I replaced the 14" steel wheels / hubcaps with a set of 15" Oldsmobile Rally wheels. There is no filler in this car, and with it still having it's original paint you can tell that the the sheet metal is very dry and solid, and there is nothing hiding underneath the original paint. I have tried to capture all the areas of concern in the attached pictures.
The car starts easily, and the choke works very well. It drives very smooth and quiet. It steers and stops well. It is a great driving car. The A/C was working great and blowing cold, but the compressor went bad on a long drive. I have not been able to find a shop with a R12 recovery machine, so I have not been able to fix the A/C.
Here is a list of the mechanical work that has been done since I purchased the car:
New master cylinder, wheel cylinders, brake hoses, front drums, all new brake shoes, flush/bleed with fresh brake fluid
New gas tank
New fuel sending unit
New fuel pump
Rebuilt carburetor
New choke pull off
New KYB gas shocks
New spark plugs, points, and condenser
Oil and filter
New valve cover gaskets
Trans fluid/filter/gasket/seals
New thermostat, flushed radiator, fresh antifreeze
New belts
15" wheels/tires
Partial front seat repair
RH front floor pan rust repair
New carpet
The car is located north of Dallas, Texas and is available for inspection and test drive. I have a few short videos I can send if you are seriously interested.
