Description for Oldsmobile Futuramic 76 2 door coupe 1949

Rustfree Wyoming car! This 1949 black sedanet was a one family car, purchased new in Torrington, WY. Their semi arid climate is very kind to steel. It is the base model Futuramic 76 and when new was called a '2 door club coupe' (sedanet name came along later to describe the fastback). It has a 6 cylinder engine, 257 cu inch, 105 hp, 1 barrel carb. It has the hydramatic transmission. Radio delete (a costly item back then- poor school teacher bought the car new !)
I have a clear Colorado title in my name.
While 'cosmetically' this car looks rough due to sitting outdoors the past decade or so, windshield and side glass broken by vandals, interior non existent, the car is truly a RUST FREE example. Dry climate is rough on cloth, but not many 70 year old cars have usable interiors.
The chrome is very good-grill is beautiful. All the chrome is nice-no pitting. no need to replate. The body is straight, with a bit of a 'kink' in the rear of the passenger front fender, due to a door alignment at one point. We got out the worst of this, though it will need some minor dolly work. Stainless needs some attention-driver's side rear belt molding has a flatten type dent (I may actually have a replacement piece from a junk yard convertible which I will include if I can find it!) Add on door mirrors resulted in two small holes on each side-which might be a site for your new mirrors (or find a piece of stainless from a Chevy 2 door).
I don't know if I have ever had a car as clean as this one, total 'virgin' with not tinkering over the decades. the car runs OK, brakes need bleeding or wheel cylinders rebuilt. I suspect many would prefer a peppier engine. I do have access to a 303 V-8 from a Dynamic 88 that turns over (with bar). I'd include it for an additional $500. Likely requires going through, but not frozen up.
Hagerty indicates that a number 4 car is worth $7200. I appreciate that at first glance, this car wouldn't truly be considered a number 4 car, but try to find one as rust free (I truly see NO RUST anywhere, with a near perfect grill, good driver bumpers ($1500. to $2000 today to replate a set of bumpers and then the rest of the car looks 'off').
Flat glass is pretty inexpensive, as is a set of windshields- I see a set of tinted ones for around $300. Think you can even get a one piece version if you look around. Chevy reproduction rubber keeps the prices competitive as it will clearly need replacing.
I am asking $5995. and will consider a close offer. The car is advertised locally so I could end the listing early. The car is in Fort Collins, CO which is north of Denver along I-25 . I could possibly deliver the car for expenses. If you have specific questions, feel free to contact me . 970-443-7534. I ask that you text me initially as I get so,so many 'Robo calls' I tend not to answer unknowns. Thanks for looking. Harland
