Restoration Photos SELLER REMARKS Not only is this 1954 Oldsmobile 98 Holiday coupe the perfect representative of early '50s style. it's got smooth Rocket V8 power and a few upgrades under the skin to make it a first-class cruiser in every way. If you like the look and feel of an old car but don't want to give up the modern conveniences. this is an awesome choice. This Olds is much too original to even call it a "resto-mod" but there's no better word for what's going on beneath the skin. But before we get to all that. take a look at the gorgeous bodywork. Externally. the car has been freshened but not completely restored. which is the case throughout (again defying any kind of categorization). Polar White over Turquoise are ideal for the '50s and the dramatic slash of trim makes the Holiday coupe look truly dynamic. Fit and finish are quite good. with only minor signs of age and use. and the car has that heavy. big car feeling that you only get from the senior cruisers of this vintage. Note the cool details like the globe ornaments on the hood and deck. the tasteful bumper and grille assembly. and the bullet-shaped taillights that are just showing the beginnings of tail fins. The chrome and stainless trim is in great shape. sparkling against the shiny paint and giving this car a very upscale look. The two-tone interior is quite original and really shows off state-of-the-art in 1954. The seats are a combination of vinyl and cloth and while they're showing their age. it would be a crime to replace anything. The door panels are handsomely styled in matching materials and you'll note that the paint wraps into the door jambs. suggesting that guys who care about details did the work. The steering wheel features another globe in its center and the rest of the instruments are clustered around a big central speedometer with secondary controls down low. Air conditioning was added quite recently and it uses modern components under the hood with a vintage-looking box under the dash so nothing stands out. The original AM radio is still in the dash and remains operational. and there are power windows at all four corners. a nice feature for 1954. The back seat looks only lightly used and the massive trunk is outfitted with gray fabric and a full-sized spare tire on a color-matched wheel. Oldsmobile invented the modern OHV V8. and the 324 cubic inch powerplant in the Holiday Coupe is smooth and energetic. Wearing proper corporate green engine enamel and bright yellow lettering on the valve covers. it looks quite correct and runs superbly. With modern performance. it's an awesome car to drive cross-country. and the aforementioned modifications and upgrades only improve on its abilities. The A/C is neatly hidden down low so it doesn't attract a lot of attention. the radiator is a giant aluminum piece with electric fans. there's a 12-volt alternator. and the power steering system uses some modern components for reliability. The HydraMatic automatic transmission shifts firmly with a precise feeling and highway-friendly gears make this the best-driving old car you've ever experienced. The chassis is original and in good order with a purring single exhaust system and the original wheels are fitted with spinner hubcaps and proper wide whites. Smooth. powerful. and extremely stylish. this big Olds is the original luxury/muscle car.
