Description for Oldsmobile Cutlass 1972
A valued and loved family member is for sale to help pay for college! I've had this car since 1994 (and have all repair records going back to that date). Mechanically, she's in great shape, most recently (last summer) getting a new front end. The car might get 500 parade-and-putzing around miles per year, all completely trouble free. She's capable of long distances (most recently 220 miles) but why push her? The list of things I've replaced over all these years is long. Some items: Water pump, U-Joint, alternator, coil, exhaust system, convertible top, radiator, rebuilt transmission, on and on. I have the original AM radio, and a number of spare trim pieces. It's got power brakes, power steering, the ultra-rare FACTORY AIR option (not working, but compressor turns; has condenser) and in the dark she lights up like an ocean liner at night.Exhaust system is fine; motor runs like a top.As I said, mechanically she's a trooper, but the body on the car needs help.On the negative side, both quarters are more Bondo than metal. The doors have some rust along bottom (out of sight); the fenders are good, as is the hood. The green paint job is very poor (original color was Sunburst Yellow), and there are flaws in THAT. The trunk bottom is just a scabbed-in trunk bottom from another Olds; it needs complete replacing. The white convertible top was new 25 years ago; it was never hung quite right (some wrinkles, no tears) and is a bit dirty, but it DOES have a glass back window. Might be salvageable. The motor for the convertible top works, but there are some air bubbles in the system (which I will bleed out); that makes the top slow to go up and down. The tires are fine; just functional. The spare is not the same size (15" vs 14") as on the car, but will get you home. The interior needs to be replaced; it was new 25 years ago; the rear and driver's seats are shot. The front passenger seat is fine.In conclusion, she's not perfect, but she is a runner and turns heads everywhere she goes, even when not at her best. The pricing for these muscle cars just keeps going up and up. This is your chance to get your own NOW while you still can.
