Description for Oldsmobile Cutlass 1972
Someone forgot to tell this 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 Tribute that the muscle car era was winding down when it was built, because it has a look and stance of a seriously potent street brawler. Packing its numbers-matching 350 engine, this awesome Olds looks fast just sitting still and backs it up with legitimate street cred. While all the A-bodies shared some underpinnings, somehow the Olds got the most dramatic sheetmetal, with that seductive kick-up behind... the doors and a sweeping front end. Finishing it in correct Code 36 Radiant Green certainly helps emphasize the car's finer points, because as we all know, it's nearly impossible to hide bad bodywork in a big classic. The work was finished not long ago and shows some very minor imperfections, but still looks great today, making this the kind of car that stands out without making a spectacle of itself. Instead, onlookers will surely appreciate the deep shine of the finish, the painted-on white 442 hood and side stripes, and the contrasting white vinyl top. Twin grilles up front have an intricate egg crate pattern, a theme that is echoed in the taillight lenses, and all the correct 442 badges have been installed where they belong, so despite this being a tribute, this Olds looks just about the way GM intended. The 442 hood is aggressiveness manifested in metal, fore and aft are bright 442 bumpers, and dual trumpet exhaust tips poking out of the rear complete the killer look. Grab your sunglasses and climb into the dazzling white interior, which is fresh and clean from headliner to carpets. Comfy bucket seats flank a factory console, and they'rere wrapped in fresh white vinyl seat covers that have a highly detailed look with their vertical pleats and horizontal accent mid-sections, perfect for the upscale Olds. Three round gauge pods hold the super-crisp stainless-faced instruments, surrounded by a warm wood applique that's also classing up the center console, an added factory touch that really helps to warm up the Cuttys interior. That steering wheel is a factory piece that looks like a racy aftermarket item, and it suits the dual nature of the 442 perfectly, and inside the very clean dash you'll find an original AM/FM radio. Most importantly, it's all in fantastic condition, heck, even the back seat looks completely untouched. Under that sloping rear deck, there's a very large trunk with super-solid floors and quarters, a carpeted mat, and a full-sized spare tire. Guys who know Oldsmobiles know that the 350 cubic inch small block V8 is as durable as a block of granite and makes great torque that its siblings over at Chevy and Pontiac can only envy. With a unique sound, this believed original motor fires easily and offers a slightly lumpy idle that hints of big performance to come. There aren't any performance upgrades to speak of, but none are really needed as this Cutty handles itself quite well in any situation. Stock pieces like the open-element air cleaner and gold-painted valve covers boost the presentation in an already tidy and clean engine bay, highlighting a well-maintained machine that has never needed major surgery. It's backed by a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission and a set of highway-friendly gears in the 10-bolt rear-end, so it just loafs along at cruising speeds, making it the ideal car for long road trips. Power steering allows for relaxed two-finger driving, and responsive power brakes stop the whole show on command. Mag wheels always look great on an Oldsmobile and wear 235/60/14 white-letter BFGoodrich radials all around. Offered with its original warranty card and owner's manual, this 442 Tribute has awesome good looks, a bulletproof powertrain, and enough luxury to make it painless to drive. And with optics like that, it won't last long. Call today!
