Description for Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight 1946
For your consideration I am offering the opportunity to purchase possibly the only Original 1946 Oldsmobile 98 2 door Fastback with 43k documented miles in existence. This is a very nicely optioned car beginning with its Straight 8 engine and Hydramatic Transmission. The car has a heater. lectric clock. m radio. ual outside rear view mirrors. urn signals. ender skirts and wide white wall tires. This car retains most or possibly all of it's original Black paint as was stated by the previous owner and as best as every "expert" can tell. I believe the paint to be 100% original but not owning this car since new will not guarantee it. The cloth interior is however all original and un restored. The undercarriage on this car is clean and shows no signs of repair anywhere. The engine compartment looks like a 43k mile car should and appears correct and un touched or altered. The trunk has all of its original upholstery and appears factory original and correct. When I purchased the car from my friend he sent it to our mutual mechanic and had the car gone through. A new water pump oil pan gasket and other cover seals were replaced. This car starts easily and runs perfectly. The transmission operates properly and the brakes stop nice. The steering is straight and tight as this car feels like a new 1946 car. It really drives unbelievably well for the 1946 "state of the art" technology. The electrical system still runs on a 6 volts and works properly. Although the stunning Black paint looks perfect in the pictures it is original and not perfect. There are small " oxidation blisters" from age in the finnish but are only noticeable from close up. There is also a thumb sized ding in the right front fender. The original glass is very nice and all the windows roll up and down easily. The window wipers work well as does the clock. The radio does not work but being a tube radio should be fixable. I do have documentation on the miles since 1991 for this car. The miles are also stated as 43k actual on the current Florida title. This car was part of a private collection previously and kept in a climate controlled environment hence its excellent original condition. I stumbled upon this car after talking to my neighbor who walks his dogs to the beach behind my house in Hollywood Florida one day. He had purchased the car in 2007 at an estate auction while looking for antiques for his restaurant. My friend made the impulse purchase and got it home. He drove the car seldom and mostly for maintenance purposes. One day he offered the car to me and I made him an offer. He did not accept it. A year later and after I had lost interest in the car he told me I can have it. I honored my offer and purchased the car. I now have other interests and am offering it for sale today. Please bid to own this Magnificent Automobile. I have done my best to describe it and welcome any and all inspections prior to bidding. Please ask any questions or concerns you may have before placing a bid. Please bid what you are willing to honor as this car may be sold to the highest bidder if it does not meet the reserve. This car is being sold as is where is with no warrantees. The car is located in Downtown Hollywood Florida about 6 miles south of Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Air Port. Please call me. an @ 773 551 5075 anytime. Thank You And Good Luck to all.
