Description for Opel Other 1974
Here is a truly rare car--a rare survivor. This 1974 Opel Manta is all original--original paint. upholstery. headliner. etc. The only "modern" bit is an aftermarket AM-FM radio. and small speakers which have been mounted without cutting anything--the doorcards and rear shelf are un-messed-with. Of course. it is a 41-year-old car. and is not without its small problems. Ther are the usual dings (none of which have broken the paint). and a crease on the very bottom of the right rear quarter panel. The paint has some bleached-spots--especially on the trunk lid--probably due to bird droppings. (But the paint still shines admirably. and the Opel chrome trim rings in the steel wheels gleam. ) There is surface rust on the inside of the hood and trunk lid; otherwise the body (with the exception of the battery tray) is rust-free. The battery tray shows the usual corrosion. but the electricals are fine--everything works--and a replacement tray is included. There is a small--and I emphasize small--bit of rust on the left front frame rail. but it is solid and the car has just passed its New York State inspection. The front seats have a few small tears. The dash has one crack--but an original Opel tachometer from a Rally model has been added to the dash some time in the past. The original headliner has a few small holes. Finally. the trunk lock has suddenly refused to open. And. oh yeah. it will need a clutch very soon. But the car runs very well. it shifts very well. it steers very well. and it looks good! It has a clear New York State Title. All it really needs is that new clutch. and you'll be ready for some fun summertime cruisin'. PS: Some of the photos here were taken by the previous owner. just before I purchased the car last September--hence the Pennsylvania plates and registration. I drove the car a bit--fewer than fifty miles. and then put her up for the winter. An opportunity has just arisen for me to procure a car I have long desired forces this sale. The car is sold as-is. where-is. I will be happy to assist with shipping. A $500 deposit is required. the balance in cash before title transfer. If you have any questions. please don't hesitate to contact me. Additional photos can be provided if desired.
