I have owned this car since 1994. This is a late serial number KR1752b with reverse option. It has an optional factory luggage/parcel rack in the tail section which is rare. It has standard foot pedal operation including brakes, lutch and accelerator function. Complete engine and trans rebuilt with less than 40 miles driven. Has electric start and reverse gear with 4 speed transmission. Paint, ody and chassis restoration in 1988. Old tires with newer tubes. Original paint and interior color. Original frame, ody, ifting section and underbody. No visible rust. All lights and electrics are working, ut high beams are not connected. Has scratches, ome minor dents. Paint quality is below average, nd should be repainted if goal is for a show car. Interior has no rips or tears. Interior paint is correct for year, ut is showing wear. The rubber is showing age and needs re-gluing is some areas. The windshield is not cracked, nd is strong, ot perfectly clear on the curved portion.Runs, tarts, rives and stops as a normal KR175. Engine was rebuilt professionally. New bearings, ings, askets, odern Honda CR crank seals were used. Transmission has been reassembled using NOS factory parts including all shafts and gears. Correct air cleaner and petcock. Factory rebuilt Bing carb. Dynastart works. It has a restored, orrect Messerschmitt clock. A 1965 Motorola radio was installed, ut the volume control is stuck to the "on position". A period, ftermarket optional altimeter is mounted on the dashboard.There are a couple of small drilled holes in the tops of the left and right fender where the previous restorer/owner mounted incorrect running lights. Horn is correct and functions. Headlights are correct Hella glass type.Enjoy it as is in the current condition, r restore it to any level you prefer. Best to drive on level streets, ince they wereunder-poweredfor using on hilly areas.Note: this KR175 has a curved windshield fitted on it which is not an original part, ut it is preferred by many as a convertible. The lifting section is not harmed or modified and an original dome can be re-fitted if desired.NOTE: This Messerschmitt recently sold to a high bidder at $22,100. After the auction, e contacted me and asked me if the KR175 could climb steep hills which he has in his area. Once I told him that these cars were designed primarily to function in cities post war, r are best on level ground or slight hills, e decided that it would not work for him since his area has many very steep hills. These Messerschmitts have less than 10 HP and weigh more than a scooter. We have trailered this to many shows and driven up and down streets and in parking lots at shows. NOTE for clarification: This car has a clear title and registration indicating it as a 1954 Messerschmitt. It is currently on registration with all fees up to date.

The late serial number of this car 9010, sually indicates that this would be a 1955 model year. This car was purchased in the 1970s by the previous owner in El Monte California with paperwork that showed it as a 1954 model year according to California DMV records. The serial number plate is clearly stamped 1954.When I purchased it, he DMV title and registration also had it recorded as a 1954 model year. The KR175 engines are stamped 1954 on the ID plate and is a correct number sequence for the 9010 chassis.

NOTE: All 3 areas on this KR175 are correctly stamped with the titled 9010 serial number. therefore it is a matching number car. The engine is stamped 1954.

  • 9010 is stamped clearly on the main tube frame in forward of the gear selector
  • 9010 is stamped clearly on the rear chassis assembly which is a separate engine suspension unit bolted to the front frame/body
  • Some of the questions asked what electrics work, nd which do not. Messerschmitts were build with many variations of lighting functions as the production rolled on month by month, nd depending on what market the KR175 was built for. Also, any/most owners modified the wiring and electrics to make them more reliable. This car has a combination of original wiring and also new wiring including the addition of a lighting relay and a more modern fuse panel. The headlights are later correct Hella bulb units that were new old stock. I have new Comet bulbs and and new Tyco relay installed recently.like many owners, did not connect extra accessories like dash lighting and high beams. What functions as correct for this car:-- headlights on low beam withtails lights and license plate-- brake lights-- turn signals function and are the two lights on the front-sides which can be seen at the rear since the body tapers inward at the rear.The horn is an original KR 175Bosch horn and its very loud.-- I disconnected the power to the radio as the on off switch chose to fail a couple of years ago and was draining the battery. It is a Motorola from about 1965 and still plays. Many tube and transistor radios with speakers were available for Messerschmitts. I will be listing a tube Coronado radio in the coming weeks. that I bought many years ago that would fit.-- I did not connect the clock or speedometer lights, ut they are in the housings and can be easily connected with one power wire. The license plate on the KR175 currently is a YOM (year of manufacture) plate, hich is owned by me and does not get transferred to the new owner. If the auction winner is located in California, he options are to obtain a new, odern CA license plate (inexpensive) when the ownership is transferred, r purchase another original 1952 plate with a 1954 metal tab as you can see in the picture using the YOM program in California..Messerschmitts are registered and licensed as motorcycles in most states.
