Description for Other Makes 1957
NOTE: If you do not plan on using the flatbed, can take it off to save on shipping costs. I don't really want it but I know it's heavy, nd it will also narrow the shipping width when removed. I can also shorten the frame some to make it shorter, nd take the outer dual wheels off to lighten it more and narrow it more for shipping. I can strap the wheels/tires to the top of the frame if you want them.1957 WHITE 3000 COE CABOVER TRUCK
These COE's make nice rod projects, r look great restored to original. They are very unique trucks and get lots of attention at truck or car shows. The white COE is a rarer coe to find, nd it has a cool "round cab" design with the extra cab. The extra cab would be good for storage, lthough a shorter person or child could use it as a sleeper. I'm sure a dog would like to lay up there also. There are a lot of creative ways people have restored these trucks. They put flatbeds, amp bodies, ollbacks, recker beds, ampers, nd pickup boxes on them. Regular 8-9' stepside boxes from the era look great. Restoration pieces are made to build a bed out of scratch, ncluding tailgates. Old original boxes are not hard to find though. I've included many pictures below to give you an idea of the different possibilities of these trucks. I've seen custom crew cabs built out of these, nd suburbans/panels too. I can send more pics of the white also, s there are only 24 on here. I have experience shipping vehicles like this and can help with that process if needed. This truck does have a clear title. Thanks.
MECHANICAL
This truck has the original big six inline gas engine with manual transmission. This is a 477 cubic inch mustang model engine. That was the name of the engine, nd it's printed on it. I know these motors are probably not efficient but may be cool for a rat rod and I know some of the big inline sixes sound cool with straight pipes and/or stacks. They sound kind of like a diesel. A turbo may be cool on it? More power and maybe better efficiency. I have not checked to see if it this engine runs. It looks complete and original, ith nothing gone besides the battery. The transmission shifts and holds it in gear. The clutch is air or hydraulic and does not work because a small connector is broken by the pedal. If are interested in the engine condition, can try to see if it will turn over. The truck steers fine.
BODY
The body on this truck is in nice shape for a coe to restore. The cab is nearly rust free. It has rust in the front passenger outside corner. It's a small spot and in an easy spot to fix. The drivers side floor has a small spot of rust. It's not the floor actually but where the vertical seat mount meets the floor. It can be easily fixed with sheet metal. When I say easy, mean by a bodyman or someone who has some experience. If you have no experience, butt-weld patch is not real easy, ut not that difficult to learn with a decent wire feed and practice. The rest of the floors look nice and are solid. The roof, oors, est of the cab, tc. are clean and solid. No large dents and really no small ones that I can recall but it may have a few. There is a small bracket welded onto the roof that you can see. It's an easy repair and no warpage from heat. Doors open/close properly. This cab will tilt forward but I did not know how to operate the release latch, nd didn't spend time to try. It looks like it had a "twist" handle which releases the latch but the twist part doesn't turn. It looks like a motorcycle twist throttle and I'm sure it's easy to repair or just bypass to release the latch. The small doors under the xcab windows are access doors to the engine. They operate also. Some window glass is broke, bviously, ut it's all flat glass and easy to replace. Passenger door window does operate but the glass is broke so I left it down. This has a cool gauge cluster mount that looks like it's stainless steel or aluminum. Overall, his is a great body to start with for a resto. You could probably buff it out and use it as-is if you want that vintage patina rat look.
INTERIOR
The seats and door panels are actually in pretty good shape considering it's probably been 20 years at least since they were recovered. The doors shut and latch. Seats are comfortable. Cool gauge pod. Plenty of leg and headroom and I'm 6'5". If your doing a rat truck or low budget resto, ou'd really only need to replace the floormat/carpet and you could use the interior as-is.
OVERALL
These COE trucks get tons of attention at the car shows. There are many online pics to see how they are fixed up and get ideas for your truck. Below are some other coe's so you can see the potential. Thanks, nd happy bidding. Sold as-is.
