Description for Other Makes Tiger 1967
1967 Sunbeam Tiger Mark II, IN # 382100341, nderwent a complete nut and bolt restoration for then owner Bo Cheadle by mark specialist Todd Bumgardner. All work was completed under the watchful eye of the world's leading Tiger expert, r. Norm Miller in the early 90's. Mr. Miller is author of "The Book of Norman" is considered to be the definitive reference of Tiger history and a must have for every Tiger Club. Used copies can occasionally be found on eBay selling for over $2000.00. After its restoration, or various reasons, his car went into storage for 20 years and was purchased by its current owner after resurfacing during an estate sale. Immediately after purchase it underwent a superb cosmetic and mechanical freshening by local restoration specialist Don Walters. The car is currently in a specialty shop to be sure that all is working properly. Among other things, his service included pulling, leaning and recoating the gas tank, carburetor rebuild and general tune. Also, ith the help of Mr. Miller the trunk was completed for concours competition with a complete tool roll, ack with appropriate stickers, nd an original Dunlop RS5 white wall tire. The engine compartment has also been further detailed for accuracy. This is a numbers matching car. Once the car is back from the shop additional beauty photos will be added to this listing. The Sunbeam Tiger was actually Carol Shelby's original project car and preceded the Cobra. The first cars, he Mark I and Mark Ia's, ere fitted with Ford 260 engines. Only the fabled Mark II's were fitted with the desirable Ford 289's. Production numbers for the Mark I cars totaled 7085, ut only 536 of the Mark II cars were ever made. Even fewer remain today. The project was killed by Chrysler, unbeam's new owner at the time, nderstandably not willing to sell a car with a Ford engine. This makes the Mark II the rarest and most desirable of the Tigers. Mark IIs are identified by a unique grill, helby like side stripes, verall better amenities, he Ford 289 engine and a small Chrysler emblem on the front right fender. This car also is equipped with the removable hard top and a new soft top. An original Sunbeam Tiger Mark II owner's manual is included with sale. "This Tiger was commissioned as the 250th of the 536, 89 equipped Tiger IIs andif my sleuthing is correct, ost likely arrived as part of the first, ast model year boatload to be off-loaded in Long Beach, A spring of 1967. A purchase of this car provides the next custodian pride of ownership, s well as ensuring faultless performance and operation. Treasure seldom comes at a bargain price, ut with rare classic cars rapidly increasing in value (a similar car selling in Monterey last summer for $231,000.00), hat old axiom may be challenged here."
