All these models had soft suspension adapted to the local roads that provided a very comfortable ride even on tough gravel roads. After extensive tests. even the Western press recognized the VAZ-2101 as a better car than its originator. In a short time Lada became a real hit in Soviet Union. In September 1971 the name Lada (Russian for "harmony") was chosen. and the export models would be called Lada 1200s. None were exported to the U. S making the Lada a very rare car stateside. Interior: Stepping inside the Lada is like a time warp to the 80’s. The black vinyl interior is plush and covered with beaded seat covers. The dash is simple with a speedometer and heater vent controls. Everything is in good condition. The previous owner maintained the vehicle very well. Exterior: The red paint is in fantastic condition and maintains a great luster. All original badges are intact. The Hungary sticker on the rear window affirms that this car is far from home.
