Description for Other Makes Elva Courier 1964

I purchased this 1964 Elva Courier Mk III in Spring 2015 for my wife as a fun convertible but she decided she wanted an Alfa Romeo and hasn't driven the Courier so it's time to put her (the car) up for sale. The car had two owners from 1964 - 2015 and I am technically the 3rd owner (for just 6 months).
* Original 1622cc MG engine, ncluding original London radiator & SU carb's
* Original owner's manual & trunk T-handle key
* Rare optional wheels with Elva center caps
* Original steel bow frame, oft top, ide curtains with original mounting hardware
The car drives beautifully at 75 mph with plenty of throttle acceleration and braking/handling are solid. The advantage to the Mk III Courier is the longer foot well area to accommodate drivers over 6' tall as well as the hood scoop that improves the look of the car over previous Mk I and Mk II versions.
The challenge in looking for a nice Courier to drive on the street is virtually all of them have been turned into vintage race cars due to their light weight and great handling.
MECHANICALS
The car underwent a $19,000 mechanical refresh in 2014 and those receipts are available to all interested buyers. The recent mechanical receipt history was a big reason I bought the car as I wanted to avoid having to put another $15K-$20K into the car when I got it home. Included in the service work were the following:
* Brakes (new front calipers/pads/hoses, ew rear wheel cylinders/springs, rums & rotors re-machined, ew rear brake shoes, epair parking brake)
* Rebuild SU carburetors and replace all rubber hoses and inline filter
* Drain fuel tank & clean points on fuel pump
* New clutch master cylinder & hose; new brake master cylinder
* Clean wheel bearings & hubs
* New battery, ables & cut-off switch
* Fabricate/install new hood release cable
* Set point gap, iming & adjust carbs
* New spark plugs, ires, ap & rotor; install Pertronix electronic ignition kit, eplace coil, alve cover gasket
* Fabricate and install new exhaust system
* Replace steering column and replace worn upper bushing
* Disassemble front suspension, nspect parts, eplace steering rack & tie rod ends, eplace sway bar bushings & hardware
* Replace upper ball joints and reassemble suspension & check alignment
* Replace engine mounts and repair holes
* Check controls/wiring (under dash wiring, epair failed grounds, ulbs, linker indicator)
* Remove/replace water pump and radiator hoses
* Remove transmission and replace clutch assembly and broken pressure plate, e-install and check out
* Replace oil pan gasket, ront engine plate gasket
* Replace rear main seal, eseal pan gasket & re-tap oil pan bolt hole at front of engine
* New Kuhmo tires (including spare)
Upon receiving the car, notice the fuel gauge and wipers were not working (despite the seller telling me he would take care of it), o I spent another $947 to install a new fuel tank sending unit, lean the fuel outlet and install new fuel filter, nstall NOS Lucas toggle switches, nd install NOS windshield wiper motor (receipt attached). There are no known mechanical issues anywhere on this car.
FRAME
As most of you know, 960's British cars are notorious for rust and luckily, his car has escaped being plagued with big rust issues. The box frame on the car is in good condition with only light surface rust in places where the original black paint has been chipped away. You can lightly buff/sand the minimal surface rust comes and re-seal with Rhino liner or any type of rust inhibitor/sealant -- this is a one-day job if you have a lift. I've been under the car and have found no penetrating rust anywhere. All of the floor sections have been replaced with new metal and simply need sealing.
BODY & WHEELS
Body is in good condition. Lights, askets, rill inserts, inges -- everything is tidy and appears original. The car was originally red, ut repainted to white some years ago. I would consider the paint as "10 feet" nice and is presentable up close.
The wheels have some fading in the black "pie" sections and I had a guy quote me $60/wheel to repaint the centers but I haven't had the time to put the car on jack stands to do it (I travel a lot for business). There is some light crazing in a few areas around the rear curve where the soft top fastens to the body, ut nothing different than what is on my Ginetta G4 or any other fiberglass car that is 50 years old (I'm nitpicking at this point). The doors close properly and I would make a slight adjustment to the passenger door hinge to align it perfectly flush (another nit on my part).
Bid with confidence as I've been on eBay 15 years with 100% Positive feedback and I'm a 30-year car collector & vintage racer. I reserve the right to end the auction early as the car is for sale in other publications.
