Description for Other Makes 282 1974
Up for auction is a 1974 Peterbilt 282 single axledaycab cabover trucktractor. Engine is an NTC350 Small Cam Cummins with Jake Brake. Transmission is a 15 speed fuller. Rear axle is a Rockwell R-170 with 4.63 gears onspring suspension. Truck has centerpoint steering and a Fontaine sliding 5th wheel. Truck came with A/C but it does not work. Truck was purchased out of Sacramento, A area. I was planning on restoring the truck and started removing the mirrors, ights, tc. for paint prep but got side tracked with other projects.Truck has new 22" steering wheel. The truck has good deep tread on all 6 tires. The rears are caps, he steers are virgin. All tires were on the truck when I purchased it in 2010. I do not have any idea as to their age. There is no sidewall cracking that I can see anywhere.
Mechanically, there are no known issues or defects. Engine fires right up and runs excellent. Zero fluid leaks. The hydraulic hose for the cab tilt has a hole in it and needs to be replaced for the cab to tilt. The tilt mechanism did operate prior to the hose breaking. The tiny air lines fromthe shift tower to the air splitter on the transmission became brittle and broke at the transmission, o it does notbuild air much past 40 or 50 psi. All of the pieces removed are inside the truck and come with it, owever the large "Peterbilt" emblem above the grille was missing when I bought it and the bumper has been removed and discarded.
The truck is a great truck to restore or fix up but it will need fixing up as it is not roadworthy with the missing lights and items I havementioned above. The truck can loaditself onto alowboy under its own power.
Truck is being sold as-is, here-is, OB St. Louis, O. You may schedule an appointment to view the truck prior to bidding, owever your bid is a binding offer. I am happy to assist in loading but have no mechanical means to assist. $500 deposit requiredwithin 24 hours of auction close. Truck must be paid for within 7 days of auction close. Truck must be removedwithin 14 days ofauction close unless agreed to in writing ahead of time. For the purposes of any disputes, he point of sale shall be Unicorporated St. Louis County, issouri, SA.
